"With great power comes great responsibility."
This is a theme that has run though Spider-Man comics since the character was created in the 1962. My question is why can't politicians grasp a concept that comic book writers can? It should be simple we give them great power to vote for us in Congress and they have responsibility to represent us and not corporations, but somehow this concept is lost on so many of them especially the republicans. I just find it pathetic Peter Parker would be a better Congressman than John Boehner or any of the Republicans.

2. Unfortunately many in power do not understand that basic thing.
Power (has a tendency to) corrupts.

6. There's part of the problem right there.
Peter Parker didn't want power, but got it anyway.
And after a fatal error on his part, proceeded to use it responsibly. Because he wasn't raised to want power, and once he had it, used it the way he was raised.

Meanwhile, Norman (Green Goblin) Osborne wanted power. And he wanted it so he could abuse it.

Any resemblence to actual politicians is no coincidence.

7. That is why I used Spider-Man as an analogy
because despite the fact that yes its just a comic bock. I do think in that regard it makes a good statement about the corrupting nature of power and the dangers of its abuse. So thank you for that post it expressed what I was trying to say better than I could.
