Jeb Bush: "Schools are getting better. A lot better. And we need to get a lot more better.''
Edited on Mon Feb-07-11 11:56 AM by seafan
This little nugget from the Orlando Sentinel over the weekend:

.....

It used to be that teaching attracted people willing to accept a modest salary in exchange for good hours, the satisfaction of working with kids, job security and a decent pension. The great ones were not rewarded. The bad ones were protected. But now their work is measured and their success quantified. Their salaries soon will be based in part on learning gains, and their employment will be at risk for not meeting them. And pensions for new teachers may be replaced by some kind of 401(k) plan.

Everything that teachers became teachers for is being yanked out from under them.
.....

"Schools are getting better,'' says former Gov. Jeb Bush, whose reforms pushed the improvement. "A lot better. And we need to get a lot more better.''

A Florida teacher responded:

“Even a lowly, public school English teacher like me knows that the comparative form of the adjective good is just plain better- not more better. Perhaps our “education” governor needs a refresher course. I’d offer to help him, but I am just one of those lazy public school teachers who is in this for all the “perks.”

Recently, Jeb has been lumbering around with Newt Gingrich, pushing the idea of allowing states to declare bankruptcy as the way to deal with their budget crises.

Maybe Jeb thinks dismantling renegotiating the states' pension funds in the process would also be 'more better'.

And this guy thinks he is bred to rule.

7. Jeb is cut from the same cloth, just ruthlessly cunning.
He hides it under a self-proclaimed "wonkishness".

We aren't fooled.
