Polls Show Obama Leading Palin In Two More States He Lost In 2008

Add Georgia and Tennessee to the list of Republican leaning states that President Obama could win if Sarah Palin emerges as the GOP presidential nominee.

Two recent polls have found Obama leading Palin in hypothetical 2012 match-ups in those states, both of which went for John McCain in the 2008 election. Vanderbilt's Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions released a poll this week showing Obama ahead of Palin 42% to 37% in Tennessee, a state Obama lost by 15 points in the last election. And in Georgia, an Insight poll found Obama with a four point lead over Palin, 47% to 43%.

1. Looks like Sarah is finally becoming
yesterday's news. If she can't win in the South, she can't win anywhere.

2. She can't and won't sin. Why is everyone so worried about her running, she couldn't be electable.
Heck, I would imagine that the Dems would be happy if she was nominated since that would seal the election win for the Democrats. I have a friend who is pretty much a died in the wool conservative/republican and even he says he hopes to god that Palin doesn't run since he doesn't like her.

20. Not to mention the down ticket wins.
Obama would win hands down, could spend extra time campaigning for Congressional races and turn some marginal losses into marginal wins.

12. We only lost Georgia by about 6 in 2008.
I think it's entirely within the realm of possibility.

14. They did both vote for Clinton at least once
(although I tend to think GA's onetime vote was due to the Perot effect).

They've both been trending more and more Repug in the last couple of decades, but I think the result of this poll is entirely possible. I've been surprised at the number of folks I'd have pegged as Palin supporters who see her as a ridiculous joke. Realistically, they're more likely to be non-voters than Obama voters, but a win based on your opponents' "base" not turning out is just as legitimate as a competitive head-to-head race in the end.

21. This map shows your point of them becoming more republican; President
Obama will be their reason for continuing the "red wave" in those areas.

8. Polls show people prefer food to poison too
Just sayin'

Meanwhile, there is a global revolution in process that will leave the likes of Palin buried in its dust.

17. All the better!
If she ran as an Independent, and if she won't run on the GOP ticket, that's her only alternative, she would further splinter the GOP votes! Win win, I say!

13. Another Reason Why I'm PRAYING She's The Republican Nominee
I predicted a year ago that if she ran against Obama, she'd win maybe 3 States. That may have been a bit of an exaggeration, but "I betcha" that if she ran, she wouldn't get 100 electoral votes. That's why, come Super Tuesday next year, I'm going down to my polling place, asking for a Republican ballot, and voting for Sarah Failin.

The truth of the matter, though, is that there isn't a single Republican candidate that I can think of who would even make me a little bit worried. Obama would crush any one of them, because they simply don't have any adults left in the room. They're just way too busy placating their nut-bag base to build any kind of credibility with the 90% of voters in the middle. Until they get themselves a reasonable candidate (and I don't see anyone who qualifies right now--McCain was the closest thing to "normal" as they could find, and he got smacked down hard), I don't see them winning back the White House anytime soon. They'll win some House seats, maybe even a few Senate seats, but the White House is a whole different matter.

19. we have to hope she is their nominee through a tiny majority of their party picking her over the
more qualified (as much as Romney could be called that) people, because she will get the lowest amount of votes for a GOP candidate since '92!
