Rep. Allen West to keynote conservative conference
By Catalina Camia, USA TODAY

Republican congressman Allen West, who rode Tea Party support to get elected to the U.S. House, is going to keynote the closing night of a popular conservative gathering.

The Florida lawmaker told Twitter followers that he is "humbled" to be closing the Conservative Political Action Conference, an annual event that draws thousands to Washington. "I've been asked today to have the honor of giving the closing keynote address at CPAC Saturday. I'm humbled," West tweeted.

He is taking the speaking slot that was offered to former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, who is among a dozen or so Republicans thinking about a 2012 White House bid. The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate said she has scheduling conflicts and is skipping CPAC for the fourth time. This year, the conference is giving many people a first look at several potential 2012 GOP presidential candidates.

West, one of two black Republicans in Congress, has drawn headlines in his short time in Washington. He has made some controversial remarks about Muslims and has been one of the more outspoken Tea Party freshmen on issues such as spending and debt.

"I have a clearance that even the president of the United States cannot obtain.” - Allen West

1. A gathering of crazies.
I saw the guy from GOProud on O'Donnell's show yesterday and he seemed so sane. Why on earth would they want to associate themselves with the likes of West and the other nutcases? But I've never really understood why Gays would want to be a part of a party that seems to be so against their rights.

5. "...the honor of giving the closing keynote address..." so all the racists can bail.
Unless they either bar the doors or impress upon their minions how it would look to have him speaking to an empty room, that crowd is going to be mighty thin. And what a let-down for the Teahadii - their queen has quit again.

Are those tickets refundable?

9. Nah, Allen West is a useful idiot to the Teabaggers. They love him.

He's their "black friend." You know, the one that proves they aren't racist, because, you know, they have "black friends." Interestingly enough, now that they have their new black friend Allen West, they don't need their old black friend Michael Steele anymore.

Other current and former conservative black friends include Thomas Sowell, Alan Keyes (but no debates, please, Alan), and of course the very honorable Clarence Thomas. They tried using Colin Powell too, until they discovered he had some semblence of a soul and indendent thought.

So now that the teabaggers have established the existance of their new black friend, they can all go back to making signs calling President Obama a "Lyin' African" or depicting him as an African witchdoctor. Or calling him Kenyan or Muslim or anything else that the teabaggers want you to be afraid of. It's okay, because race doesn't matter anymore, and plus, they've got their "black friend."

You can ask these guys all about it:

And Allen West plays along and throws the teabaggers all the red meat they want. Probably, because if you look at how his military career ended in disgrace, it is evident the man has no conscience or soul.
