Some folks here on DU seem to want to Abandon Huff Post, Dennis Kucinich, Bernie Sanders, Jon Stewar |
|
Dylan Ratigan, Jane Hamsher, Michael Moore,Russ Feingold, Glenn Greenwald, Nation Reporters, (too many to name) Buzzflash Reporters/Contributors, "World Socialist" Reporters, If we abandon all of them as not Supportive of Democrats Enough, then can you tell me WHO DU'ers really see as "TRUE" voices that SPEAK for us?
Please...give me a list and links so that I can read what they say. I must be missing the "True Voices" for Democrats...if the above listed are NOT considered Democrats.
Has anyone thought about how we keep TRASHING our Dem Reporters, Blog Sites/Websites and how that undermines our efforts to reform our Democratic Party while keeping it Strong from Attack?
Ever hear of Repugs trashing any of THEIR WEBSITES and the few REPORTERS they have that that are insular and just live in a revolving bubble with the Center of the "Snow Bubble" being Fox News and the Think Tanks that Bloviate on the WaPo and NYT's along with the Right Wing Papers they own with the Murdoch Empire?
Do the Repugs carry on like ally cats in heat when one of "their pets" gets a "Good deal or one of their congress or senate critters does something that WE on the LEFT jump at?" No...they clap hands and applaud...then they make sure they shut the criticism and investigations down.
The REPUGS have GROWN STRONG on PRAISING THEIR RIGHT....while DEMS Have GROWN WEAK ...SHUTTING DOWN the VOICES ON THEIR LEFT.

2. Not sure what you mean by abandoning the mentioned pundits and commentators. |
|
If I don't agree with a writer's opinion some of the time, is that abandoning him?
What percentage of agreement constitutes support?

these people or to boycott them (like the post up today to Boycott Huffington Post because AOL bought them). Kucinich and Michael Moore have been ridiculed by some on this site along with Jane Hamsher, and Glenn Greenwald and others I mentioned who do something that calls for "harsh measures" or accusations of Foul when to disagree would mean one points out what one disagree's with bit can agree or support the major body of work (reporting) or positions the person has taken in the past which support Democratic Ideals.
Disagreeing is one thing...but throwing Dem Reporters or Representatives who were "former heroes" under the bus is not helpful. As to Huffington's deal with AOL. I'll wait to see what happens with her website but I'm not ready to boycott the site as was strongly urged in a post up later today. (the post seems to have disappeared...or maybe is in another forum that I didn't search) but it was there. And all of us saw the way Dennis Kucinich was derided over voting for the Health Care Reform Bill and then his lawsuit to get money for his Dental Work after the incident with olive pit in Congress Cafeteria. We need to remember that Dennis doesn't get the big bucks in lobbyist donations so many of the others do. He scrapes by. And if he needed the money ...it wasn't just a lark that he did what he had to do. And, with the Health Care Bill...Obama strongarmed him. What are you going to do with that. The bill was going to pass with or without his vote. Others have been trashed very harshly who are real Progressives working to change the party.
I just feel we could do better in supporting those on our side against the Corporate Policies of the Military Industrial Complex who offer a counter to the policies that Obama/Biden are being pushed into by the Republicans. If we aren't strong then we have no voice. We need to be a voice that holds our Administration to task if they drop the ball on issues important to Democrats.

7. Notice I said "some Democrats" here on DU...not "all Dems on DU." |
|
So, you are one of the fair ones. And thank you for that.

some are coming from. They know who they are too and that they are deliberately being disruptive. Ignore them and put them on ignore. It makes your DU experience much better.

8. I am likely on your ignore list, or will be soon. |

But for those that value debate and the purity of the best ideas winning, I will post anyway. The republican party is a party of ignorant, completely unthinking people, one only has to listen at what is spoken in their focus groups to see that. Do you really want liberals to follow that model, except be closed minded on the left? Your vision of how to achieve progress is not the vision that will move the nation toward a brighter future, even as all of your basic goals are laudable and in the end, right. Some times a person must be willing to accept less as long as the path toward progress is followed.
