Rumor: Saudia Arabia's King Abdullah passed away after heated debate with Obama (Islam Times)
Edited on Thu Feb-10-11 11:13 AM by grahamhgreen
"Islam Times: Saudi Arabia's 86-year-old King Abdullah was discharged from a New York City hospital in good health after going through two back operations in December 2010. The king delegated the management of the affairs of the world’s largest oil supplier to his half-brother, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, during his absence.

King Abdullah talked with Obama about the situation in Egypt over the phone yesterday. Obama and the King got into a heated debate about their opinions of what Hosni Mubarak should do. After the phone call sources stated that King Abdullah was furious and then suffered a sudden heart attack.

Doctors ran to his resuce but were unable to save him. He was pronounced dead, but his death was not reported due to the sensative conditions that exist in the region. The Saudi Arabian government will reject this claim; but the ball is in their court to prove that he is alive."

7. Just Checked the news and the Saudis are saying no-AFP report
Saudi king's health 'excellent'
(AFP) – 3 hours ago
RABAT — Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah is in "excellent" health and anxious to return home from convalescing in Morocco following surgery, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said Thursday.
"He's in excellent health, he's undergoing therapy," the prince said in Morocco.

"The doctors are suggesting a certain amount of therapy and he's doing twice as much as they tell him. ...he is his usual self, assured of what he can do and ready and looking forward to going back to work and going back home."
Earlier the Saudi embassy in Morocco, where King Abdullah arrived on January 22 after surgery in the United States, strongly denied rumours that the octogenarian monarch had died.

"I can assure that the health of King Abdullah is excellent and gives no cause for any concern," a senior embassy official told AFP.
The website www.islamtimes.org said the king had died of a heart attack the previous day after a heated telephone debate with US President Barack Obama on the situation in Egypt.

The Times of London reported on Thursday that in a "testy, personal" telephone call with Obama on January 29, the king had threatened to bankroll the Egyptian regime if the United States withdrew its aid.

27. Um, actually, the present order in Saudi Arabia dates to a meeting on a US Navy aircraft carrier...
between the Saudi king and the president of the US, when history's most important oil deal was made and the US agreed to take over the protection function from the collapsing UK empire, so the Saudi government sucks in its own right with lots of indispensable help from American arms, diplomatic and spook support.

28. Um, actually, what part of "The Saudi Government sucks in its own right"
do you disagree with?...The fact that they have "help" from us (and the UK, it seems) doesn't negate that.

38. Where's the criticism for them?
Okay, no problem. Fuck the UK and their once-decisive support for the theocratic family dictatorships that they, in fact, put in charge of the oil-rich areas of the Arabian peninsula. Fuck especially their creation of the Kuwaiti entity as a means of stripping half the known reserves away from the population centers of Mesopatamia and rendering Iraq nearly land-locked.

But don't put words in my mouth. Was anything I said implying support for, or a lack of condemnation, for the British? I don't think so. Point being: Who's been most decisive in propping up the oil theocracies for the last 50-plus years (since the Suez war if not WWII)?

41. See, you keep showing this sensitivity specific to nation...
whether you realize it or not.

I don't act like "we" are the only bad actors on any block. (There's a common tip off: The use of the first-person plural to denote the institutions of empire and foreign intervention, over which the people generally have no power whatsoever.)

Rather, I acknowledge that it -- the American empire -- is the only world-spanning leviathan trying to call the shots on all blocks, often by military force, and with zero moral standing. I don't care if the American empire isn't responsible for everything wrong in Egypt, or the Middle East, or the world. I find it intolerable if our taxes are used to screw nations overseas even just a little bit! The arms, the partnership in torture, the training, the "aid" (actually most of that is subsidies for US military contractors), the 30 years of support and encouragement for dictatorship, the even longer record of propping up the oil theocracies... intolerable!

It doesn't matter how bad or good things would have been without "us." The point is, the American government did involve itself, where it had no business, and therefore is responsible, for plenty.

15. Saudi Arabia denies rumors of king's death as oil prices rise
Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz is alive, a source close to the monarch said on Thursday denying reports of his death.

"The king is presently in Morocco; he is in good health and good spirits. The report on his death is untrue," the source in Morocco said.

18. Maybe this is how oil companies pay for their late Feb vacations: Start rumors that Abdullah is..
....dead, let the price of oil shoot up, reap profits and then by the time the price goes back down they've got more than enough money for the Martha's Vineyard/St. Bart's combo.

The rest of his fortunes should go to the people subjected to his interpretations that lead to worse results, or people abused by restrictive state security controls.

People of Saudi Arabia are part of that, but his meddling else where expands the distribution.

His heirs can work for a living, like those they ruled badly had to for them, it should help them learn.

I is rules applied back, not my beliefs. Can't you see that?

I am due beer and travel money, they made those rules for themselves, so they apply to them not me.

However I will have the beer and travel money that is due to me.
