Bye-Bye Blue Dogs
With their ranks continuing to thin, Blue Dogs are struggling to retain influence in the House Democratic Caucus.

The Blue Dogs’ reputation—and numbers—took a beating during the 2010 midterms. Once a force within the House Democratic Caucus, the Blue Dogs have watched their influence wane, and the party’s liberal wing now badly outnumbers them.

2. Yes, but there are still those who say it's better to
have a Blue Dog than a Republican. No it isn't because of the power Blue Dogs can wield in the Party caucus.

4. Party Caucus v Control of Congress
what? better to have an ideologically pure 190 members than a blue dog infested 260? great way to keep the Dems in the minority for a few decades.

a Pyhrric victory if your camp has too many DINOs. Better to be in the minority where you can at least be cantankerous until you do gain a real majority and we will in 2012 because those who voted for the Republican will realize their big mistake when the Republicans screw up and they already have started.

13. "those who voted for the Republican will realize their big mistake "
In NJ, Crispy Cristie is more popular than ever, because he is now attacking the patronage jobs and showing the people how evil people are who worked their whole lives related to someone in politics.

16. I can't speak for NJ but the DINOS are not
popular in my state. Look at the cheering when Jane Harmon announced she was retiring.

7. Fact is - as we saw with the last Congress - being the minority party doesn't mean you can't get all
that you want. You may need to compromise on a few things, but if you threaten to filibuster, the majority party will fold, every single time.

8. On NPR yesterday, Howard Dean said that the "center" has been pressured to the right for a loooong
time. In his definitely clear but "diplomatic" style he said the Blue Dogs are obsolete, because more people now know that the center is artificially skewed in favor of the right.
