Couched in a lofty nationalistic, yet extremely self centered, framework he's thrown down a gauntlet. Whether it's a gut response to the prospect of giving up 30 years' of power, a bait and trap approach to the public protests or some other internal Egypt situation in relation to the military - seems a really dangerous and loaded answer to the calls for a democratic overhaul of their federal system.
He mentioned some changes in acknowledgment of the protests. Yet, in essence, changes he will oversee through to the elections in September. His long track record doesn't bode well in that context.
Lots of mention to some specific Constitutional changes, which I'm clueless about. And mentions of delegating some responsibilities to the VP. Suleiman's track record is rocky, as well...

1. I think his statements can be summed up in "FUCK YOU" |
|
Then the VP just got on and said it would be a good idea if everyone went home now.

3. Yeah, agree. Just saw Suleiman's statement.. What a poor approach - marginalize on one hand and |
|
dismiss on the other. I wonder how the military will come down in it all. Assume that will tell the tale if it gets to that.
