MSNBC - have they taken a noticeable rightward turn?
I have not watched them for a while. Have you noticed a rightward turn since their sale to Comcast?

By the way, does everyone know that Comcast owns at least 10% of Current TV?

5. Prime time accounts for 4 hours of air time. The other 20 are the issue, really.

22. Other than those four hours or so I always thought they were right leaning
to the point of almost giving fox a run for their money

2. Not in my opinion, in fact I was thinking about that this morning -- no difference
at all that I can discern.

4. What point are you trying to make?
BTW, why would Comcast owning a mere 10% of anything have an impact, be important to mention? Exactly what are you expecting to result from their extremely minor investment?

7. I asked a question and stated a fact. YOU, however, try to imply some motive
Why? What is YOUR agenda?

13. I am trying to identify what it is you are asking/ saying.
Edited on Fri Feb-11-11 12:57 PM by hlthe2b
I have no agenda except to try to understand what it is you are trying to say. You seen to think it important to point out that MSNBC has not had a 180 degree reversal towards right wing coverage after a couple of brief weeks under Comcast ownership. What was your point?

It was also important enough for you to bring up the 10% Comcast investment in Current tv... Why was that? I can only assume you want to point out how "foolish" those DUers who expressed concern about the Comcast takeover. To which I would reply, based on what evidence? It is rather premature to judge what the impact will be from that takeover.

16. Your filter is so far off it isn't even funny.
First off, I have been in a VERY small minority who saw MSNBC as worse than Fox. And this has nothing to do with Comcast. I have been saying that for a VERY long time.

You're accusing me of calling out other DUers based ONLY on YOUR interpretation of my motives. That is very unfair and insultingly presumptive of you to have done that. Shame on you.

I pointed out the Current TV thing only in relation to the irony that Olbermann went there.

Here's is where you went off the rails: "I can only assume you want to point out how "foolish" those DUers who expressed concern about the Comcast takeover. To which I would reply, based on what evidence? It is rather premature to judge what the impact will be from that takeover."

If you stop to actually think about what you said, you, in fact, are calling ME out - the very thing you accused me of having done.

As I said before: Shame On You.

18. If you would get off your high horse, I have accused you of nothing
Edited on Fri Feb-11-11 01:39 PM by hlthe2b
I asked what your point was in your thread, which you rudely refused to answer. When one posts an unclear comment, it is routine to expect one would question your point. I did so and you absolutely refused to answer, to engage in any kind of discussion. Since you refused to discuss, I surmised a possibility and asked you for comment, which you were free to dispute or to clarify or whatever. That seems to me the point of a discussion board.

It is you that is on a hair trigger. When you refuse to engage in discussion or clarification, it is inevitable that you will be misunderstood. No one has called you out. I can only assume you are having a bad day and thus reacting as such. I hope it gets better for you, if so.

20. My horse is a lowrider
Why do you continue to carry on this discussion? I think I know why, but I am asking you.

Why? <---- actual question posed out of actual hope for an actual answer.

The fact is, you made some unfounded assumptions about me and the reason for my question. If you didn't get the question, or didn't like my "motive" why did you engage - and set up the easy inference of you making an accusation - in the first place?

Again, I think I know why and all one need do is explore earlier interchanges.

By the way, you're treating as SO deadly serious what was, for me, very much a throwaway question. It was based on the fact that, today, I actually *WAS* watching the Eqypt coverage on MSNBC after not having watched that network for a goodly while. The question had no more importance than me saying to myself: "Hmmmm, yanno, Clown, I wonder ...... how have these people been doing since Comcast bought 'em?"

And that led to the post.

Yet there YOU are, all up and wondering about some implication or motive or secret agenda or some such.

Lighten up. Sometimes things are no more or less than face value.

9. No, but they have become the 'all Egypt, all the time' network ...
.... coverage of the events is historical, and good, but the shit that's being done by our gov't and not being noticed in the meantime, is horrendous and MSNBC, who I used to look to to call the gov't out on this shit, is looking the other way.

15. Wow... so you would have them turn away from such a historic event?
I think it shines a light back on our own lapses and will make it easier to question some of those proposals made by our own political leadership--evidence the questioning now of the "Internet Kill" switch bill.

21. I for one have not noticed any major change so far
and am delighted to see all the coverage of the revolution in Egypt. I'm sure they will be back to holding the US powers that be to account.

10. I only watch Rachel on MSNBC, just before turning in for the night.
So I haven't noticed any change. I watch individual programs, not networks. I watched Morning Joke for a while, but it's not my preferred morning show.
