I'm semi-retired anyway and a firm believer that you can't take it with you.

Almost kicked the old bucket myself in 2009 and you are right, you cannot take it with you and 1% on a savings acct. (if lucky) gives one little incentive to "save". :grr:

5. Working on taxes at the moment. Now, what after tax income is that? |
|
It goes for food, utilities and insurance.
Ask the grocer, utility owners and insurance companies what they are doing with my after-tax income. They have a better chance of having some.
I'm retired and they are going to hit me this year, from the sounds of it.

7. We are both retired, and have practically the same income for the last three |
|
years.
Last year was a refund of about $1,100, this year I write a check for $220. We did not change any withholdings, no changes in anything else, no car purchase since 2004.
We are about the 13% level as far as fed inc tax burden goes on adjusted gross income.

14. I'm getting close enough to do a rough estimate, but I think I'll end up paying in. |
|
This was a surprise, as I figured we'd be the last group to get hit. That makes me even angrier about the break for the wealthiest. Seems I'm always a day late and a dollar short.
Oh, well. I appreciate the benefits I do get.

6. Although interest rates on savings suck, |
|
the peace of mind I get from having a cushion is invaluable. I make every effort to live below my means and save when times are good for me (raised by depression era parents who instilled that thought process on all of us). When hard times come my way, I can still breathe.

In this culture financial failure is moral failure.
Americans would sooner admit to having regular sex with gerbils than "confess" that they are poor

9. Yep, many Americans suffer financial hardship alone and in quietness thinking |
|
they were responsible for their failure to live a life of wealth. That's the propaganda fostered in the country today as the real criminals that wrecked the financial holdings of many go free and heap more rewards upon themselves with unbridled greed.

15. Easy choice, I throw out everything that is not a proper correction. |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-13-11 10:24 PM by RandomThoughts
Just share it with anyone that wants it, it does not correct the beer and travel money that is due, and might help someone somewhere, so
Yea 0% on nothing is the same as 10% on nothing.
Then destroy those that thought they were stealing it based on 'intent'.
Those that see it just as sharing, that's different, and no problems with that, although that group would also correct the beer and travel money if they were able to.
