Gingrich's first wife was his high school math teacher...
Edited on Mon Feb-14-11 12:43 AM by cynatnite
:wow:

Learn something new every day.

Making an indelible contribution to his life story, she said he wanted to discuss divorce terms with her while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. Later, as GOP-driven impeachment proceedings stemming from the Monica Lewinsky affair unfolded against President Bill Clinton, came the news that Gingrich – then married to his second wife -- was having an affair with a much younger aide. The aide, Callista Bisek, became his third wife. He later admitted he had cheated on both his first and second wives, and apologized.

99% of the time I don't care about anyone's private life...even if it's a repub, but this is one that can't be ignored.

2. He probably passed math..........
But it's apparent that the math lessons didn't actually sink in. He was too busy with other visions.

How do I know? He still doesn't understand taxation.........

6. It's funny:
I got divorced in my VERY early thirties and never married again. I was blessed with fine looks. I got hit on by many married men. I
NEVER
EVER
had any man question me, or push me, when I said:

"Back off - I would not do this to one of my sisters".

I don't care if I sound sanctimonious - or holier than thou. I care that the point is understood that it is not only the men who are the dogs.
GOD knows, Gingrich is a big ugly dog.

7. Private life is private. Except when it isn't. IMO, this is evidence that . . .
Gingrich isn't ethically qualified for higher office.

However, to try to use this against him is not only seamy, but a double-edged sword. Progressives probably have roughly the same proportion of saints to sinners as any other group of people.

Luckily, Gingrich is bull-goose loony, so can be opposed on purely political grounds.

8. There is time line evidence to suggest that his trist during the impeachment
was possibly occurring at the office...imagine that.

9. He seems to be fixated on a pretty narrow age range
and Calista is about to exceed it. She's obviously been having a lot of work done on her face.

I have a sneaking suspicion she's behind his push for the presidency, thinking it'll keep him occupied and away from auditioning Mrs #4.

10. More information

Although he was still married to his first wife, Jackie Battley, Gingrich told Marianne they were in counseling and talking about divorce. That summer, she went to Washington to visit him, and soon afterward he introduced her to his mother and stepfather. "They were thrilled because they hadn't wanted Newt to marry . I think his stepdad wanted to be able to say, 'Look, we always knew this wasn't going to work.' "

At first, she had no idea that the wife he was divorcing was actually his high school geometry teacher, or that he went to the hospital to present her with divorce terms while she was recovering from uterine cancer and then fought the case so hard, Jackie had to get a court order just to pay her utility bills. Gingrich told her the story a little at a time, trusting her with things that nobody else knew — to this day, for example, the official story is that he started dating Jackie when he was eighteen and she was twenty-five. But he was really just sixteen, she says.

12. Those added facts are pretty explosive - in both directions
That his first wife had to go to court just to get money to pay for her utility bills shows how bitter this court fight was - in addition to the already well known fact that he gave her papers in the hospital.

But - the information that he may have been 16 and she his teacher, makes him a victim. This was clearly a weird, complicated relationship.

11. In most cases, I believe a person's private life should be just that...
private.

The Gingrich situation transcends that limit tough, he is a "family values" advocate, that clearly wants everyone else to follow his spoken "moral code" while being the epitome of a hypocrite.

This man has more baggage than Ellis Island on a busy day. For all of his professed "morality", he's little more than a shameless cur.

14. I believe all infedility transcends that.
for two reasons:

1) someone who has a history of cheating will probably cheat again if given the opportunity, and the last thing we need in the White House is someone who's going to lose focus on the job because they've got some hot new assistant they're interested in hooking up with

2) if someone has cheated on and lied to their spouse, the person they are the closest to in the whole world usually and have agreed to be with forever, do you think they'll worry too much about lying to you? Cheaters are typically compulsive liars and there is already enough lying in politics. No reason to add more distrust to the job.

13. My late stepfather's first wife was his high school teacher.
I can't imagine a list of Gingrich's foibles and deceits long enough for me to include such a factoid. There's SO much more to criticize that's relevant to our nation's political health.

18. Gingrich should have to live up to the standards
that HE has set, at a minimum. If he can't do that, then he's obviously UNqualified and should go--and stay--home.
