The 100 or so people who gathered on the Capitol's west steps Monday morning don't want the kind of action Lambert and other Republicans are advocating.
"Arizona copycat legislation isn't just unconstitutional, it's also an unfunded mandate on state and local governments," said Hans Meyer with the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition. "It's also highly destructive to businesses and tourism. It also institutionalizes and promotes racial profiling and anti-immigrant sentiment."
