Yay! More people losing their homes! Realtors cry for joy!http://www.mercurynews.com/real-estate/ci_17395162First-time homebuyers may find more low-priced homes for sale this spring than at any time since September, now that a lull in foreclosures caused by a scandal over sloppy bank paperwork has ended.
After a two-month decline, foreclosures in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties in January returned to levels that have prevailed since mid-2008, according real estate information service ForeclosureRadar. January's increase may be followed by bigger increases in the next few months, according to some real estate professionals.
"This will give us some fresh inventory of low cost homes come this spring," said Sean O'Toole of ForeclosureRadar. "That's good and could help home sales. It's not going to be a lot, because the volumes aren't that high, but this back to bank inventory tends to be pretty popular among buyers."
While foreclosures come with the pain of someone losing their home, the houses that end up on the market can offer first-time buyers a crack at homeownership.
