Barbour announces he won't denounce KKK leader license plates

Gov. Haley Barbour, R-MS, has refused to denounce attempts to create a special license plate honoring a 19th-century Ku Klux Klan leader.

Gov. Barbour said, "I don't go around denouncing people."

Barbour said, "He's a historical figure."

The NAACP called on Barbour to condemn attempts by a Confederacy group to create the plate, which honors Forrest, a confederate general, slave trader and former KKK grand wizard.

16. Mississippi has many different plates

to choose from and some of the proceeds for each plate go to what ever organization sponsors it. I think the Sons of Confederate Veterans are sponsoring this one and I seriously doubt that many of those plates will be sold. However, something like that should not even be an option for people to buy. They might as well have license plates honoring different serial killers.
