I wish Anon. would go after the health insurance industry |
|
I can't think of a more deserving industry. Watching them get crushed would be fantastic. The boat anchor of this country.

3. I have heard that you can ask them if they'll go... |
|
after an individual or entity...but it is at your own peril. Apparently if they think it's just whining for personal reasons...they may instead go after the person making the request.
I certainly don't want them coming after me. :scared:

10. Somehow, I doubt that Anonymous would call a request |
|
to go after the dysfunctional and criminal American health care industry "whining." I have no doubt that they will consider the request and respond to it, in their own time and in their own inimitable way.

4. If they crushed them in one fell swoop... |
|
I think this country would be forced to finally resolve this ridiculousness. Just take the boat anchor out of the equation...and let's go from there. Anything with those greedy assholes removed from the equation would be exponentially better.

|
if Anon went after the healthcare industry about the worst that would happen would be that their sites would be shut down for a little while.

8. When it comes to industries with real security all they are capable of is shutting down a site |
|
I am yet to see any substantial hacking done by them to any large company or organization.
I am not by any means trying to minimize what they do, I think it's usually really cool. But normally it's not all that sophisticated.

|
if you have a hundred hackers going at a particular organization in a hundred different ways, SOMEBODY is going to find a way in. Hell, one guy got 250,000 State Department emails, and DOD and State Department should be as close to impossible to get to as can possibly be. I sincerely doubt that Aetna has better security than DOD.

19. Yeah, but in the case of the state department it was an internal leak |
|
not an external hack. You are right, having that many people spread out is very powerful, but usually all they end up doing is DDOS attacks unless they find a glaring security hole.

to make money. They're a convenience for the customers & providers.

they worked with the public?
Anon shuts down their systems on a day where you get as many people possible who have health insurance either make an appointment...or show up at the ER's. Just flood them and give them no way to access records, process payments, figure out benefits.
I have no idea what kind of havoc that would create...but I'd pull up a chair.

more of a social one. Would be nice if we could get americans to protest anything in large enough numbers.

9. If they could just hack in and change all of the "refuse service" decisions to |
|
"pay this claim" , it might save a few innocent lives.
I wish the government would do it, or force the insurance companies to do it.

if Anon. went after an industry as powerful as health insurance industry, which seems to have the majority of Congress in their pockets, then Anon. would probably be called out as a "terrorist" organization and the leaders tracked down and arrested. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see Anon. do something, but I'm worried they would be in over their heads. The only thing more dangerous than picking a fight with the Throne is picking a fight with the power behind the throne.

when you have to wish for some action to correct abuses from an anonymous group rather than the ones that were elected by people who, overwhelmingly, support universal health care, but whose wishes are constantly ignored by those same elected officials.
...that's why people start to cheer for the "robin hoods" of the world.
I'm not techno-savvy enough to do any hacking of any sort - but I have to admit I wouldn't cry if the health insurance industry ceased to exist b/c they weren't needed.
here's another major abuse - esp. of young people in this nation - and that's the student loan industry. University admins make money for... doing something... while students work for pennies - it's truly a master/slave relationship that exploits students from undergrads to grad students. On top of this, students often have to take out loans to survive - because the jobs they do for pennies put them in this situation.
I wish that some of the wealthy people in this nation would make a deal with the loan providers to "forgive" student loan debt - student loans create an unfair advantage to the children of the wealthy - who are already at an advantage - and force people into jobs that don't necessarily do anything to improve this nation - but they're jobs that people take b/c of their debt load - which wouldn't exist in the first place if universities paid students for the work they do.
Both the health insurance industry (or, lack of universal health care) and the student loan industry squelch innovation and entrepreneurship and contribute to the increasing situation of under and over class stratification in this society that is so harming our nation at this time.
We would be better off having 1000 people teaching children to read than having 1000 people denying insurance claims to the sick.

are about as fair as taking out loans from the Mafia. I'm lucky in that my parents are helping me and I have a scholarship, but my mom is still paying off her Nursing School loans and its been about 15 years or so since she went.
