All these governors pissing off the working folks are waking the Sleeping Giant...
...keep at it, the people are coming to their senses. If the president and congress continues to do what they're doing, it'll end up on The Mall.

The Giant is beginning to stir, people.

23. good motto for the oppressed: I'd rather die on my feet a free man
than live on my knees as a slave. Emiliano Zappato. Its been my life's motto and frankly, it once was the dems pov. FDR and HST dems anyway.

18. And eventually the RW will wake up and realize they're being had and manipulated. It's
Edited on Wed Feb-16-11 05:22 PM by RKP5637
not like all of the RW is exclusively in the top 2% of the wealth of this country. When the LW and RW realize they have many of the same issues some politicians are going to have hell to pay for the situation they have placed this country in .. including wall street and the banksters will be in the same boat as many of the creepy politicians.

26. I've noticed that you tend to be on the pessimistic side
If you think the American working class is too small and complacent to expect anything out of, what do you have to offer as an alternative?

10. Wake-up Call?
There is a time when the heavy-handed servants, who don't serve the people's best interests, need to be reminded that it is a matter of numbers in the end.

There are far more of us than them and all that really keeps them in their positions is a very thin line of cooperation and acknowledgment of the laws that we agree to uphold in the long-run. The less they respect that whole idea and use their positions to game the entire spectrum of laws and agreements, the more they are asking the people to compare a tangible, physical presence to more abstract ideologies, laws on paper, and even the consent to be governed.

12. dad is smiling from heaven.
Dad was a union organizer in the 1930s. Told me about getting your head busted open if you showed up on a picket line against Crown Central Petroleum. Houston Ship Channel. They had lockouts at Crown that lasted for years.

There was one labor lawyer in town, Arthur Mandell, of Mandell & Wright. Everybody who got dragged off to jail had to post a hundred dollars in bail money. Nobody had any money so Sophie Mandell, the lawyer's wife, bailed everyone out.

This was the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. Now replaced by PACE.

16. What a wonderful father!
They understood what sacrifice meant. I think that Egypt has been a huge inspiration to me on the importance of numbers and standing together. But none of it matters unless we GO with our signs and let the Giant make its mark.

22. These governors need to start cutting from the top
and not from the bottom, not off the backs of the workers and the poor, just who do they think buys all the goods that corporations need to sell.
TIME TO RISE UP !

25. Completely Agree
I feel it down in Texas...it won't be much longer before people realize what's going on. Unfortunately I'm afraid that people will have to lose their jobs and things will have to get even worse before they get better. But they will get better.

27. Hi there Bear fellow Texan!
Dad was not only a union organizer, he was a pipefitter for thirty years at one of the stinkin' refineries that line the Ship Channel. He refused to let them promote him beyond shift foreman.

he went to law school at night on the G.I.Bill, and became an attorney. He was FORTY when he graduated from law school and passed the Texas Bar Exam. For fifteen years, until he took early retirement at 55, he did rotating shift work AND practiced law as well.

And my folks got a 4% V.A. mortgage on a $9,000 house. Those two programs, the G.I. Bill and the V.A. mortgage, got my parents into the middle class.
