War on labor continues: AFL-CIO head fighting to kill resolution to lower minimum wage
CARSON CITY -- The head of the state AFL-CIO delivered a thundering speech Wednesday opposing a proposal that would allow voters to decide whether to repeal Nevada's minimum wage.

"This is the law of the land today because of the people of the state of Nevada," said Danny Thompson, the union's secretary-treasurer. "It received more votes in (two) elections than any other issue on the ballot. To come and say undo it is a slap in the face of the people of Nevada."

Thompson asked the Senate Commerce, Labor and Energy Committee to kill Senate Joint Resolution 2.

The proposal by Sen. Joe Hardy, R-Boulder City, calls for repealing the state constitutional amendment that sets Nevada's minimum wage, now $8.25 per hour, at $1 more than the federal minimum wage. To change the constitution, legislators would have to approve the resolution this session and again in 2013. Voters then in 2014 would have to vote for the resolution.

3. Be careful, there is a contingent of DU'ers who will railroad you on using words like "war"
"class struggle" "kill opposition" as formenting and advocating violence against the government.

At any rate...K&R

4. Excellent, this has to be stopped.
If we don't fight, the corporate owned politicians will move to repeal the federal minimum wage altogether. Their goal is to have us all working for 30 cents an hour like workers in Cambodia.
