"I prefer Socialism to Feudalism!" This is part of a remark I heard about |
posted on Facebook. We, as Progressives/Liberals/Democrats, need to use this phrase when the Right Wing talkers accuse social programs of being "Socialism". We need to point out that the Republicans and their outgrowths (Tea Baggers, etc.) are merely shilling for the corporations (either knowingly or un-knowingly) and are leading us back to medieval social situations. I think it is a great statement and can be framed: "Socialism or Feudalism....you choose." What do you think?

It could be a slogan to take back the word socialism from the demonization it has received from the fascist right to its rightful place as a tool for democracy and equality in a mixed capitalistic/socialistic government.

2. Merging the state and corporations is fascism, which is where we are headed. |
We are NOT even slightly headed toward "socialism" in my opinion.

3. Feudalism was how Europe was organized in the Dark and Middle Ages. |
There were "Fiefdoms" all over the land, each one owned by a powerful person, and these areas were inhabited by "serfs" who worked the land and performed other useful skills, all on behalf of the Knight, or Lord, who owned the land. These humble people were basically owned by their lords, and as I understand my history from long ago, had few rights. If the Lord wanted to go to war against someone, he just called his serfs into duty, and off they went. I don't quite see how that type of society compares to anything going on now.

4. You've not read about the 50 fiefdoms of America? |
What other than feudalism exists when there are 2.5 classes in society? The Boyars, the half class of Kulaks, and the Serfs?

7. Think about corporate America. I believe we are learning that the Corporations |
are trying to drown our Government in the "bathtub" and do away with all regulation. They want workers to be paid as little as possible....have two or three part time jobs. No benefits. We will be, basically, serfs or "wage slaves". It DOES seem, to me, to be heading in that direction.

6. Probably not anytime soon. However, Liberals are accused of |
heading toward Socialism frequently. If we are accused we can deny that our policies are socialistic but say that, if given a choice between the two, we might prefer Socialism to Feudalism which is where the corporate owned right, and some nominal lefties, will take us.
