Who in the GOP can beat Obama??
I know it's early in the process, but by the end of the year, we ought to know just who is running for president against Barack Obama in 2012. As I look at the GOP candidates, I really don't fear anyone who at this point can beat Obama. While Obama is not at his strongest right now, and he has many many problems to work on, I just don't see anyone who can beat him. Here's what I mean. Let's take a look at the GOP candidates who are making the most noise right now.

Sarah Palin; The Republican rank and file are scared of her, and her obvious missteps and brick throwing. This would be a Democratic dream and a Republican nightmare. Obama would chew her up and spit her out.

Haley Barbour; No one outside Mississippi, and political junkies know who this guy is. I consider him a lightweight and really not much to be concerned about.

Tim Pawlenty; He might be a good VP candidate, but I really don't think he's presidential material. Too young and too green.

Mitt Romney; The extreme right hates this man. Very well organized, but he will have some problems with social conservatives, teabaggers and the Catholic crowd.

Chris Christie; The new Republican star. Says he isn't running, and I believe him. He isn't through ruining New Jersey yet.

Newt Gingrich; Same as Palin, a nightmare for Republicans. Democrats would have a field day with him. Has foot in mouth disease, plus social conservatives will have a problem with his private life.

Jeb Bush; Bush fatigue!! Just like Clinton fatigue. Also says he isn't running.

Donald Trump; He maybe a millionaire many times over, but he's a political neophyte!! I really don't think he's a Republican. Might work with Independents.

Michelle Bachmann; In the same class as Palin and Gingrich. This woman is certifiably crazy. A teabagger favorite, but she would get destroyed.

There might be others who are thinking about it, but these are the people who are making the most noise right now. So you see, I can't see anyone right now that beats Obama.

14. Without the voting computers, who on the right would have a shot at all?
IMO, I'd question every election back to Nixon/Humphrey -- !!

11. I'm not worried
If he doesn't run, the person he endorses could most likely beat any current GOP pick

9. Right now, I do not see anyone. Romney is their best choice.
Do not throw things at me. If Trump had a decent
platform, he might make me uncomfortable. If he runs as Republican and has to adhere to those RWer policies, I do not think we have to worry .

DRAFT Sen. Bernie Sanders for president in 2012 -- he can run on a Dem ticket --

he would draw liberals back --

How about Tom Hayden for VP?

15. The most dangerous candidate is the one
who might come out of the government cutback stuff going on in the states.

There may be a state where teachers go on strike and the governor fires thousands of them.

That governor would become the hero to the Republicans and would vault to the top of the candidate list.

It could be any of a dozen governors.

The model would be Calvin Coolidge who came out of no where to become VP after he fired thousands of striking policemen in Boston.

Reagan's favorite president was Coolidge. The Air traffic controllers needed to know that little bit of trivia before they decided Reagan wouldn't dare fire them.

24. Pence is running for Gov.
Pence has announced he isn't going to run for President. My guess is he is going to run for Gov and Mitch will run for Pres. If Mitch could get the nomination I think he would be strong, but it would be really hard for him to get the nomination because the radical right won't get behind him.

There is a LOT of chicanery going on behind the scenes.

Republicans control a LOT more statehouses/Sec of State offices/governorships/and redistricting has made the electoral map a bit more slanted.

Never underestimate republicans..

Who really thought that a lazy dimwit like GWB could beat straight-arrow, intelligent-hardworking Al Gore?

Technically he did NOT, but we all know what happened next.

dems do not fight dirty like republicans do, and they are sick to death of having a "Moooooslim, socialist, community-organizing, Marxist, Kenyan black man" in THEIR white house.

Do we really think they will not take extreme measures to stop his re-election?
