Every now and then I have to reread this very old clipping.
It was published in my local paper about 17 years ago when the Newt Gingrich revolution entered mainstream politics. It was apparently written by someone who woefully recalls the Republican leadership in the '30s and warns against repeating the mistake.

The author's name, and likely the author himself, is long gone now, but the message left by one who has seen the destruction wrought by a party in power lives on like it was written yesterday:

4. I really HATE the media
:grr: :nuke:
I blame the media for propagandizing people, betraying democracy, and ruining America.
Until the media is changed, nothing will change. Democrats will act like Republicans, campaign funding will be owned by elites, and the rule of law will be nullified still.

9. As long as we have hackable electronic voting machines
that can deliver elections to reliable corporatists, we will not see change.

7. My mother-in-law was a young woman during the Depression, & she had been
clearly affected by it. She saved everything, bought mostly sale items -- I could go on & on. She hated the smell of wood-burning fireplaces because it reminded her of those days. And she was a Democrat.

I like the clipping so much, I'm saving it, too. Thanks for sharing!
