Q: Do we need to break out those second amendment remedies? |
|
A: No. The second amendment remedies are heretofore only needed by people on the wrong side of our democracy. This is an extra-democracy method. A method of fighting against your fellow citizen which is actually called treason.
No, we on the left believe in using our First Amendment remedies. Those that involve non-violent assembly to have grievance against a fairly elected government representative, when we believe that his/her actions are unconstitutional, or just against the will of the majority of sane citizens practicing their obligations to their fellow citizens and the common good.
That's what we are witnessing now. The robustness of our most important right. This right must be exercised when needed to preserve our union and our way of life.
So as they continue to bus Teabaggers from West Virginia and all points south to shutdown free speech in Wisconsin.
I believe the rule of law and the first amendment and good ol' common sense will ultimately prevail.
Bless the protesters, since they are us! :patriot:

4. They're bussing in teabaggers to Wisconsin????? |
|
Tea baggers are flooding into Wisconsin to protest the protesters??
I smell a rat--or several of them--who want the focus to be on RIOTS and VIOLENCE. If they're doing this, they're creating reasons to shut this thing down.
FIGURES!

7. I'm a strong RKBA advocate, and I favor First Amendment remedies too |
|
Second Amendment remedies would be appropriate only AFTER a total breakdown of civil order.

9. The 'baggers are pussies. They're all hat and no cattle. They talk the talk, but when push... |
|
...comes to shove they won't walk the walk.
I am prepared to arm every family on my street with a Mosin-Nagant rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition, if they so desire.

13. I'm talking about an extreme situation, such as the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake |
|
One in which the regular government-provided security forces such as police and the National Guard are unable to provide protection.
The purpose would be to help people survive, not to take over the country.

under the impression that you were ready to arm your neighbors against teabaggers. :)

20. I'd say we should exercise our 2nd Amendment rights, too. (Hear me out, I'm not advocating violence |
|
And the reason for that is because wherever and whenever we are out exercising our 1st Amendment rights, there is always the looming possibility that some lunatic fringe rightie will incite violence, counting on all of us being unarmed. The rhetoric from that side makes this inevitable. And I, for one, have no wish to be a martyr.

2nd Amendment remedies are dystopic fantasies held by adolescents who have read too many hack-authored science-fiction sub-literature.
