Everybody had some help somewhere. |
|
The usual RW argument that "I'm self made" " I pulled myself up by my bootstraps" Is utter and complete bullshit. I don't care who you are, what you did, EVERYONE had some kind of help. Someone took you under their wing, a phone call was made, you received financial aid, Grandparents helped out, stayed at home while you saved money. A neighbor suggests you to their boss, (that's called networking, right?) No one does it alone. So to those that bitch and whine about (entitlements) I say FU. Everyone needs a leg up, a chance to run with their idea, a slight push to make it happen.

1. People like that claim that they shouldn't |
|
be forced to contribute to other people through taxes. They claim that they give plenty to charities as it is. What they really want is for someone to owe them for their good deed, someone who is beholden to them. They can't stand it that someone gets help without acknowledging the contribution that they have made. Charities have been around for thousands of years; if charity did the job we wouldn't need the government to help the poor.

I forgot about that. Charities. Well really I consider not bitching about my taxes going into the social safety net my way of contributing. No back pat needed.

5. The thing about charities - |
|
that is just another way the rich keep us in place. They get tax deductions for those contributions you know, and then they can say "we helped out". But all the charities do are fund limited projects and mask the real inequalities that keep most of us down every day.

I think about this everytime my bitch ass stepmother brags about her rental buildings which are section 8. And all the charity work and giving she does. But don't let her fool you, she has no compassion, no empathy, she's a Conservative.

They can give to charities that help people they 'like,' such as those who worship the same way they do, those who 'have their head on straight.' People who don't bend down to kiss the corporate god won't get help.

2. Well, that much is obvious to any thoughtful human being. |
|
But good fucking luck ever getting a RWer to admit it.
Funny thing, that. I know plenty of righties who whine about "Welfare Queens" who have relatives that get government benefits of some kind. But that's different, of course...... :banghead:

4. To them it's always different. |
|
Just like when they tell you the story, "they did it on their own" and leave out they drove around in the hand me down car their parents gave them to pass out handbills for their business.

8. +1. I'm a business owner and when you get the real scoop |
|
it's absolutely true. Somewhere along the way they got a lift and a strong run of luck. I'm not saying that they don't bring anything to the table but if they are honest they will admit that they had a boost along with the balls to run with it......and trust me.....balls or being nuts are a big part of it.

9. I will never argue they are not hardworkers |

Just it doesn't happen alone. Not in any way shape or form. In fact even people who don't "make" it have some kind of assistance somewhere.
