Many people contributed to what and who I am today. |
|
To the extent I can claim to be an educated man who has achieved some measure of some success, I have to thank my teachers.
We should all have to thank our teachers.
We should all recognize that without our teachers, we would be immeasurably less than we are.
People don't teach to get rich.
People who won't see their teachers compensated fairly for their dedication and effort that accrues singularly to our individual benefits deserve not to have them.

2. I would say that the majority of people who contributed to my life |
|
were indeed teachers. I've had a good share of really fantastic teachers, from grade school through college, and have appreciated each and every one of them.

why there is such resentment about teachers having a middle class existance is beyond me.
Negotiating in good faith, delaying compensation (getting smaller raises in exchange for our benefits) we are now the enemy? The 'fat cats'?
I don't get it.

6. How about parity with other public employees with similar resume requirements? |
|
What public employees have to have BS degrees? Masters degrees? PhDs?

7. I've had both good and bad teachers |
|
But good or bad, they were all teaching me things that were important, and they were working a mostly thankless position because they believed in what they were doing.
The good ones taught me the actual knowledge. The bad ones taught me to think for myself and question authority. I wouldn't be the smartass I am today without all of them.
We are where we are today because we value money more than truth, equality and people's lives. Sad commentary.
