Who can rethugs alienate next?
Edited on Sun Feb-20-11 11:40 PM by Hawaii Hiker
Since Nixcn's Southern Strategy, republicans lost the African-American vote for a lifetime....The Hispanic vote, which already leaned democratic, will probably REALLY be strong for Obama in 2012 as who denied a vote on the Dream Act, the repubs....With this, http://pol.moveon.org/waronwomen/?rc=fb repubs are going to get demolished in the female vote....Now, they're going after unions, a strong voting block esp. in states like PA, OH, MI, WI...

Whose vote can the republicans lose next?....

I guess repubs. will always have the Archie Bunker types on their side, that's about it...

2. Going after unions will kill them dead in the Rust Belt.
If this keeps up I would wager we'll win PA by a larger margin than we did in '08, and we might even have a good shot in Ohio too.

5. Because it doesn't matter
Citizens United. Just wait for the torrent of money to be unleashed in 2012. If money doesn't do it, hired thugs will.

8. Yeah, they'll be able to throw tons of money around, but
as Meg Whitman proved last Nov., if people despise you enough, they'll never vote for you no matter how much you spend...

Whitman spent $165 million to lose by 13%......

10. The elderly
Edited on Mon Feb-21-11 12:00 AM by Alcibiades
Older white voters have been the only demo they have done well with outside the south. They scared them into action in 2010, claiming that Health Care Reform would lead to rationing of medical care for seniors.

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTS6c-O5iEEWR1VOjMwkPTqfqyHSOsis6C3_DPbrkVbvxn2Yi8M

It worked, and older white voters turned out in droves to vote for whatever crazy-ass Republican made it through the primary. The first thing on the agenda, other than 18 anti-abortion bills, was this:

INSTITUTING RATIONING FOR MEDICARE.

Older voters ought to be wise enough not to have fallen for this shit. Many did not, but enough did (a couple hundred thousand nationwide, enough to swing the close ones) that we got a Republican House.

But the national media will dare not call a death panel a death panel, now that it's a GOP death panel.

ON EDIT: I seem to not be the only person on whom this apparent irony is not lost.

14. Won't matter--as long as they don't alienate the folks who own the proprietary
software that counts our votes. Those guys' "votes" are the only votes that really count.

15. CPAC disallowing any group that supports DADT repeal and/or gay marriage n/t
Edited on Mon Feb-21-11 12:24 AM by Tx4obama

Groups supporting ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ repeal or gay marriage will no longer be allowed to participate at CPAC

Al Cardenas, the new chairman of the American Conservative Union (ACU), announced on CSPAN Wednesday that his organization, which hosts the annual CPAC event, will now vet organizations before allowing them to participate.

The statement hints that gay conservative organization GOProud, a group whose participation infuriated social conservatives, and other groups determined insufficiently conservative by the ACU may not be welcome at next year’s 2012 CPAC.

Cardenas said that groups advocating for the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” or supporting gay marriage would not be welcome.

“If you are a group, and this has got nothing to do with your orientation,” said Cardenes, “of straight couples, and you advocate gay marriage, that’s not within the scope of what we believe the three legs of the stool of the movement are.”
