At Stake In Wisconsin is Nothing Less Than the Future of Unions in America.
http://www.businessinsider.com/private-vs-publi-sector-union-2011-2

This chart from the CATO institute from last year gives a pretty clear reason why unions -- and the party that depends on them so much for money and organization, the Democrats -- are so desperate to keep the public sector side from weakening.

1. It's not only the unions...

It's every working person in America. Because when union wages and benefits disappear, so will the wages and benefits of everyone else.

2. But the POLICE and FIREFIGHTERS UNIONS get to keep ...
their benefits?
Is there a double standard ... or am I not understanding something?

3. There is a belief that the safety officers are mostly republican

I think it's one of those follow on myths from 9-11. The republicans want wrap themselves in flags and dance with 'heroes' whose very uniforms are compelling cognitive attractors for conservatives.

But I don't think the police and firefighters unions got the same break in Ohio that was offered by Walker in Wisconsin.

4. What you do not understand is that those unions endorsed Walker.
This was their payback, but they regret it now.

5. I think Walker was trying to drive a wedge between unions...
the police union has caught-on to Walkers tactics and have apologized for their support of Walker. They now stand in solidarity. The firefighters also stand in solidarity.
