While the rich defined themselves by their levels of decadence
the rest of the empire, 95% of the "free citizens", were left to survive on the largess of the wealthy...

Patronage dominated the relationship between those who governed and those who were ruled.

Is the American Empire's form of democracy destined for the same fate as Rome?

Our middle class is fast becoming a myth, our individual rights and ambitions are stifled by the uber rich who determine the selection of our leaders, the thrust of our economy and how we live.
