For all of us working today...
I'm sure like me most of you are simply happy to have a job which allows you to pay your bills (hopefully) in this economy. Many of us don't get a lot of national holidays off, president's day is just one of them. But we come to work because that's what we are paid to do.

So I'm sure it makes all of us feel better that the new republican majority in the house decided that for president's they don't need just a day off, they need the entire week off. And this is at a time when a government shut down is right around the corner because house republicans are refusing to give in on the budget (imagine if democrats tried that in 2007/2008 when Bush was in office).

As I work today I can't help think how happy I am for John Boehner and the fact he has a 9 day weekend to work on his tan. He sure needs it (been looking a bit less orange than usual lately).

1. Republicon shirkers are out on the golf courses today
playing with their putters, and their RepubliCronies, while laughing at the proles. As usual.

The weather is lousy for golf today here. Cold and wet.

2. Shows how important they think the budget crisis is
If they can take a vacation and not deal with it, it must not be too much of a crisis.

I wish someone would get on the TV and make that analogy. Because the media wants all to think this is the end of times unless the GOP can take away Social Security Medicare and other benefits that the government oversees.

8. I think by taking this vacation they are making it a "crisis" on purpose
crisis in the sense that the government is about to shut down. Which if history is any judge will get the democrats to fold on most, if not all, of their demands.

3. They aren't doing the country harm today. For that I am grateful.
Seriously, these jokers hurt us every time the gavel falls. Let them stay home indefinitely and forever.

4. But their lack of actions this week will probably bring us great harm next week
when the government shut down is right around the corner and democrats of course cave in on all the republican demands because they will make the argument that there is no time to debate.

5. I wish I thought a week of working on it would make a different outcome possible.
I wish I could shake this fatalism that has taken hold, but I can't make myself believe that the outcome isn't already a forgone conclusion.
