When we were at Camp Casey a local pizza shop fed us for days.
The owner finally set up a PayPal account he was so swamped with phone calls.

One of the neatest things about being there in August of 2005 was watching the UPS and FedEx trucks pull up several times a day and unload donations from folks around the world. Bottled water (that lasted for years!), camping supplies, flowers for the memorials we built on the road side across from the ranch, poster board for signs, markers, food, medical supplies, - I can't even remember all the things that people sent. It was just incredible.

The first night I was there a guy in a big truck rode over the roadside memorial we had spent most of the day building. CNN was there, filmed the carnage, the cops arrested the guy and by noon the next day, a huge refrigerated truck pulled up to the Peace House in Crawford packed with roses. Some people in Florida had sent them. There were enough tears from the people at the Peace House to water all of those flowers for days.

When I heard about Ian's Pizza in Madison taking orders, I sent out an email blast to my Camp Casey friends and we recalled how much we appreciated the gifts sent to us in Crawford. It is truly one of my fondest memories of my time there.

So YES, order pizza for the protestors in Madison. I know first hand how much that pizza will lift their spirits.

for everything
:patriot:
I admired your group so much. It was a brave action in the mouth of the beast. As mch as I try to push Obama into acting like a Democrat, it was much nastier with Republicans in control. Dangerous times back then.

3. Another great memory was reading all the supportive posts on DU
Most of us didn't have laptops, there were no smart phones back then and internet access was limited. But at least once a day someone would go into town and come back and report what DU and other sites were saying about us. It was wonderful!

5. When I was at Camp Casey, Food Not Bombs supplied the food.
I don't know where the donations came from, but they had an amazing buffet set up each day I was there! It really lifted your spirit when you were hot and sweaty and tired, and then saw this awesome free meal awaiting you.

6. The only thing they couldn't donate to us was a shower
I remember too well how good a shower felt while I was there. And I usually stood in line for quite awhile to get it.

7. What pizza shop?
I travel that way on occasion and would like to support that kind of place with my business.

Two Zen Pizzas (Making One With Everything) ordered from Ian's this morning.

8. I don't remember and I doubt he's still in business
Most of the local businesses went under within the last couple years.

12. So true. Crawford is dead now.
That pizza place was probably in McGregor (is that the town 7 miles down the road?) I don't remember a pizza place in Crawford.

9. Camp Casey was such a happening, I thought
it would catch on fire and spread across the nation. Maybe this time the Wisconsin happening will be the magic charm that runs these greedy banksters, and corporations and their bought and paid for politicians out of our government and hopefully out of our lives forever.

14. Well as a veteran of both anti-war and union rallies,
unions are much more well-organized. Less spur of the moment too which could explain the organizing.
