Time to (re-)read Stephen King's "THE STAND"...
except, instead of a virus released from a lab, it's the virus of hate and conflagration, of mistrust and betrayal, of greed and avarice, of hatred and intolerance. This pandemic has been cultured by the bigots, the warmongers, the despots, the insanely driven-to-destroy, and released into the environments: the TV, the Internet, the printed press, the radio, and Rumor. We are poised to witness a conflagration within and without our society not seen in the lifetimes of most of us, and only hinted at by the black and white pictures of the Second World War and now-fading reminiscences of now-old men and women. The "Peace and Prosperity" has given way to "War and Remembrance", and the War, this War, is just beginning. As the flywheel gathers speed and momentum, the darkness will spread ever-faster throughout the world and uproot nearly all that we know to be just, decent, and right. The Darkman cometh, heels tapping on the roadway, the evil grin emanating from his cold eyes.

Then again...this may all just be a "phase"...and we shall return to discussing Lohan, Sheen, and the upcoming nuptials of the British Royals. But I don't think so...

1. I don't think so either.
And the Forces of Darkness never go down without a fight.

2. Yes, the Walkin' Dude has his majority in Congress, on the Court, and runs the press
Still, as we've also seen, he doesn't have complete control of The Streets. Yet.

Perhaps there is were our salvation will lie.

3. I do love that book
above all others that Stephen King has written, and it definitely stands as an allegory for our time.

4. Apropos perhaps. The Shock Doctrine would possibly......
be MORE apropos.
