Venezuela denies reports Gaddafi on his way there
(Reuters) - Both Libya and Venezuela on Monday denied reports that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was seeking asylum as a violent revolt gripped his country and would join his friend President Hugo Chavez in the South American oil producing nation.

Fueling rumors in the media, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said he had seen information to suggest Gaddafi had fled Libya and was on his way to Venezuela, a fellow OPEC member.

But Venezuela's information minister said Gaddafi, who has ruled Libya for more than 40 years, was not coming.

"He is not traveling to Venezuela," Information Minister Andres Izarra told Reuters in Caracas.

His comments were matched by the Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Kayem, who said the reports were "groundless."

3. He definitely will not be coming to the US.
Venezuela or some other country with an authoritarian regime is more likely.

7. no... really... I think Bush and the GOP are a bunch of fascists
Edited on Mon Feb-21-11 07:19 PM by fascisthunter
and I know for sure they love authoritarians... hell they believe we the people should work for peanuts and adopt their religious nuttery, while giving tax breaks to the already absurdly rich...

Chavez is not the type GOPers like, because he was democratically elected and he has instituted what the people wanted, a socialistic system. A system that helps all people more fairly, unlike many right wing fascists in our own country here. Historically, Republicans supported dictators and actually helped bring them into power to play along with US business interests. Any ELECTED leader who could keep the people from creating their own infrastructure, or taxing the rich was ousted by US supporting the opposition in that country. (Google economic hit man)

Chavez being elected, put an end to that.... sniff, sniff. Qaddafi was the bitch of the oil industry.... so was Saddam before he threatened to move to the Euro. Man, right wingers must be so upset to see Mubarak go down. Hopefully Obama supports the people more than the big business interests. I'm sure Cheney and Bush could care less about "We the People", just like Qaddafi.
