19. I have a *very* favorable view of the original purpose of unions

and that is, support of wage and benefits, PERIOD

but many modern unions, such as service union, actually support glutting of the labor market, because there is a conflict of interest in ethnic immigration interests vs pure wage strength. and i have nothing against ethnic immigration interests except when it conflicts with wage strength interests of union members - what are you paying the dues for?!?!?!

and the AFL-CIO was willing to support an increase in H-1b visas in 2000

(AFL-CIO has flip flopped on this issue)

but back to the original purpose, it's absurd to state that working people are the only ones who have no right to organize - everything they face in opposition is organized to the hilt
