5. Yup! when even "rolling back prices" can't save you from going completely broke

8. I've been noticing for several years that Wally's loss
has been the Dollar Store's gain, at least in my neighborhood. People shop for food at the Dollar Store and fill in the gaps at Wally's.

It's beyond sad. I've been there. Not fun.

9. Down the road in El Paso, it's the same thing
Dollar stores always did steady business, but now parking lots are overflowing.

Even more alarming is that Walmart is still a colossus in this town, and growing. It captures close to 50% of the grocery dollar here. With the dollar stores also ascendant, we're fast becoming a corporate monoculture.

3. It is certain to happen
A society can't function when all the productive gains are siphoned away.

First Walmart made everyone so broke they could only afford to shop at Walmart. Now they are so broke that they can't even afford to shop at Walmart.

6. ++++ 1000
As they sow, so shall they reap.

Walfart is just finally reaping what was totally unsustainable & unrealistic. Too bad that so many good businesses had to go under & die to reach this point of truth.

More than a shame, in fact. A real TRAGEDY what walmart has wrought.

12. I called it years ago. Some day they will leave one hell of a lot of empty stores.
Like Builder's Square did. And Zayre/Ames and Pharmor and woolworth's.
And like Borders is gonna do.

And I called it for Lowes too. sorry lowes.

18. They're trying to screw a bunch of people around here - and covertly.
A car dealership by one of our malls went out of business a couple years ago. The lot has remained vacant since then. Recently, the town council floated the idea of a "national big-box retailer" moving in. WalMart sent out "independent" survey teams to test the waters. They were apparently the only such "national" retailer that was interested. They want to put a 24 hr. store with a parking garage in a fairly small lot. The people who live near the lot are on a higher elevation, so the offer to put up a 10' fence is laughable at best. It also would mean clear-cutting a stand of tall mature pine trees that serve as a natural screen right now.

FUCK WALMART!
