Christian medical plans get pass from health law
WASHINGTON – The brain tumor came back. An ugly mass growing in plain view threatened Karen Niles' remaining eye. She needed more surgery.

This time, however, her medical plan wouldn't pay.

It sounds like one of those insurance "horror stories" that President Barack Obama hammered home during the fierce debate to pass his health care overhaul. Except Niles' plan ended up as the beneficiary of a rare exemption to the new law — a waiver highlighted in the plan's promotional materials.

The plan didn't come from an insurer, but from a religious "health care sharing ministry." Consumer advocates call them a gamble.

These plans successfully lobbied Democratic lawmakers to free their members from the requirement that everyone in the country have health insurance.

3. Comments on site are odd
Several of them blame "Obamacare" for this--when it seems the problem is that these people were given an exemption from "Obamacare."

Just a reflex, I guess. If something goes wrong anywhere, it must be because of Obama's socialist policies.

4. I can't think of many sites at all where the comments on anything remotely political *aren't* "odd".
Go to virtually any M$M site and read the comments and either the spoof factor is permanently set to eleven or the crazy factor is even higher than that.

5. This bears looking into
for those upset with the mandate. I doubt the exemption mentions any particular religion, only the mechanism by which which they work. I would suppose that there is nothing stopping anybody else from setting up a similar organization, with the express purpose of getting it's members exempted from the mandate.
