Unfortunately, Tim Robbins isn't nominated for anything tonight-or Sean Penn-but there should be somebody there who cares about this.

Given the tradition of political Oscar speeches, it'd be nice if it DID happen.

Who said something about the wars a few years ago? Or did I imagine that? For awhile in the 70's it was "what would they say", and now it is "what will they wear"?

3. I firmly believe there will be mentions.
Hollywood is a union "town", after all.

6. Maybe one of the speakers or winner's mom or dad was a teacher, firefighter, policeofficer etc.
Maybe it will hit home for someone 'big' enough to say it to the world.

7. Natalie Portman could possibly say something as she already did when
she won the SAG award recently.

Leo, Portman Shout Out to Unions at SAG Awards:

SNIP* Unions also can offer protection for working people, especially young working people, as Natalie Portman pointed out. (Check out the video above at the 2:40 mark.) The winner of the Outstanding Performance by A Female Actor in a Leading Role for the ballet drama, “Black Swan,” said in her acceptance speech:

I’ve been working since I was 11 years old and has taken care of me. They made sure that I wasn’t working too long and made sure that I got my education while I was working and I am so grateful to have this union protecting me everyday.
