23. I'm curious, how many of these scenarios have you lived through?

US has no credibility for humanitarian aid+military. Barely has any credibility for humanitarian aid at all anymore. Biggest humanitarian aid would be stopping the wars, stop propping up dictators & puppet govts to collaborate with us and putting and end to our govt weapons sales among other things. Track record not so good after covering up plenty of war crimes either.

The world sees what we do w\ humanitarian aid in places like Haiti, Iraq, Gaza. I understand why ppl find it hard to trust us anymore.

The one survivor of the massacre of the Shabelle radio station, killing 20 Somalis and wounded more than that. "The prison guards fired shots and used batons against the detainees."

He said, "that the treatment of prison guards were too harsh with them, where they were tortured continuously by various means, including electrocution." As surprised at what he described as "the commitment of the Somali Embassy in Tripoli silence, as if it is not interested in the order of its nationals languishing in prison, or who have fallen victim to the irresponsible actions of the prison guards. According to the testimonies of prisoners, the Somali Embassy in Tripoli ordered them to ignore, despite knowledge of their suffering.

20:41 BBC Arabic’s Abderrahim Farsi, who’s in Tripoli, has been told by a source that Libyan tanks and armoured cars attempting to break into Zawiya have been repelled by opposition fighters. The source said the attacking force belongs to the Khamis Brigade of the Libyan army, led by Col Gaddafi’s son Khamis. (Via BBC’s live stream)

18:52 At a Q&A session of the press conference, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that military action is not imminent. She said that military assets are in place to provide humanitarian aid and to assist in evacuations.

Before that, Clinton said that the US will send experts to the Libyan border with medical supplies and food supplies ready in response to the recently reported food shortages.

"Khamis Brigade" are highly armed & trained elite guards, not just ragtag mercenaries. If Azawiya defeated them, it means three things.

First, morale must be extremely low among Khamis Brigade; probable defections even. Can't imagine how else they can lose to a citizen army.

Second, it means that #Gaddafi has expended his attempts on Azawiya. Let's just watch out for Khweldi's unit which is in Sorman. #Libya


Third, it means that the citizens have captured advanced weaponry, a level above what the mercenaries are armed with. Good news.

Libya bombs military base in region held by protesters

Tripoli, Libya (CNN) — A Libyan military jet bombed a base in eastern Libya on Monday, as embattled leader Moammar Gadhafi fought to hold onto his regime.

The base is about 90 miles south of Benghazi, a stronghold of government opponents. Some bases in the area have fallen into the hands of protesters as more members of the military have abandoned Gadhafi’s regime and joined demonstrations.

Several soldiers told CNN they switched their allegiance after refusing to use weapons against peaceful demonstrators.

There was no immediate word on the results of the attack.


Pro-Gadhafi forces have also tried to attack a radio station in Misrata, a city controlled by protesters, a witness said. A military helicopter has tried to land a couple of times in the past three days with soldiers on board, but opposition gunfire kept them away, the witness said….
