I've noticed, all of a sudden, that on a few message boards... |
|
I frequent....you can no longer type in "teabagger" and expect it to post. On the Denver Post boards, it turns the word into "tea party member".
So...they can get away with calling it the "Democrat Party" for years and years...and use "liberal" like a four letter word for decades...and that shit gets excused.
Call these people Teabaggers for less than 24 months? That shit gets censored.

5. I post on another board sometimes |
|
and even though it's supposed to be neutral, I noticed beginning about a year ago, if I started a thread with the word "teabagger" included, it would be changed to "tea party" or some other variation within about 24 hours. Nothing else, just the one change.
I always put it down to some overbearing teabagger sympathizing mod..

13. If you wanted to mess with someone. |
|
Think what changing nouns to having some meaning would do.
Not sure how many names are changed, and how many have always been a certain way and not noticed.
But someone is messing with the metaphor string table for names in the metaphor world program.
Note that such a program could easily be put in a font handler routine and targeted at certain people. So really no way to know for sure.
It is actually possible that what you see on your computer or tv is different then what other people see.

14. Maybe "L33t" speak it a little will get it through the filter. |
|
Like Teab4gger, T3abagger. Basically replace 'a' with '4', and 'e' with '3'.
Like you said though, sucks that they do that but allow the other things that get through.

Is the "Tea Party" an actual political "party?" I always thought of it as a subsection of the GOP. The prominence the corporate nooze readers give the GOPbaggers is disgusting.

21. Always mention why you use "teabagger" instead of "tea party" |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-28-11 12:34 PM by JHB
As for me: 1) That's what they originally called themselves; 2) that "other meaning" isn't really part of my world either, so I'll spot them not knowing about it; 3) the patriots of the Boston Tea Party genuinely risked bodily harm when they destroyed the equivalent of millions of dollars of property of a politically well-connected corporation, an act that precipitated a bona fide military crackdown on the city. In terms of sticking their necks out, none of the members of the so-called "tea party" have come anywhere close to that. Hell, they're funded by the same sort of politically-connected interests that prompted the Boston patriots to act to begin with.
On edit: the above prompts me to suggest: Tea Tories

22. Use greek letters. I get around those filters all the time |
|
A greek capital beta looks just like a latin capital B for example. "Τeabagger" - That's a greek capital Tau. Or if that doesn't display right in browsers, an accented character can accomplish the same AND add a dash of panache: "Téabaggér"
