He's fugged up big time. He's going to cost ReTHUGS all of 2012. I'm lovin' it. He will be a party pariah in no time.

4. Ed Schultz just announced this several minutes ago.
I have no idea if it's true. It sounds really over the top, but if it's true I guess we'll find out. It certainly sounds like a fire safety violation.

RT @Adampdx: @MikeElk WI State Capital designated National Historic Landmark in 2001. Any welding would be federal crime. http://twitter.com/MikeElk/status/42315748365963264

7. welding window shut? i really doubt that.
Edited on Mon Feb-28-11 05:04 PM by madrchsod
you`d have to bring a welding truck or portable arc welding unit to the capital. then you could tack the windows shut but you could shatter the glass to to heat distortion. gas welding would be even worse. i doubt he could find a welding company in madison that would do this. after all-who`s going to pay and worse...does anyone think the welding company would ever get business again...?

sounds like a silly rumor but ya never know about walker.

10. I'm very skeptical.
It just sounds ridiculous and you give some good concrete reasons why it's unlikely.

12.  Bolts screwed into sashes, preventing window opening. Bolt heads removed.
Isthmus newspaper journalist, Kristian Knutsen: Re: the Capitol windows...

"I was told that there is no welding going on, but that maintenance crews are entering bathrooms and applying bolts to windows",

13. Bolting Windows like this violates City of Madison fire code
City of Madison fire code: All double-hung and sliding windows and doors below the second story and all other double-hung and sliding windows and doors accessible by balconies, fire escapes, trees or other existing means shall be equipped with approved window ventilating sash fasteners to allow each window to be locked at one (1) to five (5) inches open. Such window ventilating bolts or locks shall be movable to permit the window to be fully opened from the inside of the dwelling unit. (Am. by Ord. 10,192, 1-31-91)

I don't know if the Capitol is under jurisdiction of City of Madison fire codes

16. I don't think this actually happened--they were replacing a bolt
in the women's bathroom on a window that's always bolted shut anyway.

20. How do you weld a wooden window shut?
And wouldn't doing this be a massive, MASSIVE fire code violation anyway?
