Al Jazeera vs the us owned media |
I turned off the tv several years ago and have urged each of you to do the same. I relied on DU primarily and the links provided here, BBC, RT, and occasionally, Al Jazeera for current events.
Since the uprisings in the middle east, I have watched Al Jazeera daily...not only the news segments but their in depth documentaries as well...online. It is difficult to explain why I feel liberated..why I am embarrassed by our culture and media..why I feel that the viewer is treated as an intelligent being by a news service outside of my country when I dont have that same reaction when watching american news channels..even cable. It's a relief and painful at the same time...but one thing is certain, Al Jazeera is light years ahead. I doubt we'll ever achieve such a thing just because of the distractions created by those who control the media. It is very strange, indeed, that watching Al Jazeera encourages the best in me rather than anger and frustration.

1. The sad part is that they took their format |
from our CNN back when it was run by Ted Turner. Look what was done to CNN for $$$. I hope Al J stays true to it's purpose. It's already replacing CNN globally. If we are able to get the cable and satellite channels to run it 24/7, it would give us a real news source again.

2. no pundits, no celebrity nonsense, just the facts...refreshing |
including their take on the neocons push for war..just outright calling it what it is..the torture and rendition programs used by the us..not as a matter of debate and whether it was justified as seen here in the us..but discussing the diplomatic implications of those acts and the diminished influence of the us because of it..just takes it one step ahead ..to the truth..and where we go from there

3. When I watch MSM I feel like I'm so propagandized, when I watch AJZ I'm getting |
facts and real news, often feeling like I'm behind a version of the cold war iron curtain. AJZ makes the US MSM look/sound like a bunch of fools for the most part. The presentation by AJZ is so superior to much of the crap dolled out to us on US MSM.
