Walker acts like a man with nothing to lose |
|
So, I wonder how much money he is being paid by his REAL constituents?

I believe he is being very well paid to "stay the course" here. He hasn't budged an inch.
He is the linchpin in the grenade. If he can get this baby to explode--it will explode all over the country.
I kind of look at this as a career kamikaze. Yet, he still seems defiant. There is definitely untold fortune awaiting for him if he pulls this off--and probably a job with Koch even if he doesn't. But either way, Scotty is walking away a winner on the backs of busted labor.

16. Of course! This guy is just like Palin. I betcha he quits, like she did, |
|
once he gets a better paying gig. He has no intention of staying a minute longer than he has to in order to make or wrap up the deal with the Kochs. Once the no-bid contract provision gets passed, Koch makes their move and they're sitting pretty.

18. He's doing what he's told, and even if he doesn't "succeed" in |
|
political terms, it doesn't matter, because he is causing enough damage so the Kochs will reward him richly for the rest of his life.
I was paying NO attention to Ohio during the Cirque du Walker, and now have to read up on Ohio.

Absolutely right, HwnN!
The ramifications of this confrontation are huge. If Walker wins -- and I fear there's a good chance of it -- it'll create a domino effect, robbing Americans of labor rights from coast to coast. If he loses, it won't really be victory for us, just a reprieve. Each time they lose though, we will get stronger. They know that, which is why they are trying to accomplish everything so quickly.

23. If he loses I believe it will be more than a temporary reprieve for us |
|
...as far as wholesale gutting unions. What I think is being set up has already taken place. He and the baggers have already set the narrative that unions "need" to make concessions. Now I don't agree with that due to him deliberately causing a state budget problem due to his corporate welfare. However the unions, in their justifiably honest intentions to demonstrate good faith by agreeing to them already let this sociopath set the terms of the debate.

8. I think he acts like someone with extreme hubris and arrogance. |
|
I really think he has power issues and sees governing in terms of exerting his will in the most absolute terms. I really think that's his motivation more that money - and I would bet that he foresees himself in national politics and eventually the presidency. I think he's going to be sorely disappointed. Hubris has an almost predictably classical outcome.

He's compared himself to his god Reagan. Walker thinks he's on the cusp of greatness. Unfortunately, he's too stupid to see the trouble he's in.

19. Only if the Koch brothers withdraw their support. Walker may indeed feel he is |
|
invincible, riding high as he is now. And he may indeed have a great fall if the Kochs get tired of him or if he is too high maintenance for them. Then he can kiss his ass goodbye in terms of a rosy future...

20. yes, and compromise is absolutely NOT in his nature |
|
While attending Marquette University in the late 80s, he despised his Jesuit teachers who, being the intellectuals of the church, stressed always trying to understand opposing viewpoints (if only to become better able to defend the church's own position). Walker has absolutely no interest in any other viewpoint than his own, since he is absolutely sure he is always right. BTW, he never got his degree because he was forced to withdraw (either that or be expelled) for student government campaign illegalities.
This from a Milwaukee friend in a position to know: Walker will never bend, he will have to be broken. And if/when he goes down, he will be willing to take the whole state of Wisconsin with him.

14. I can only assume he's planning to run for higher office, and the |
|
"tough guy" stances are what he thinks will play to the conservative base. They clearly don't play well to the voters of Wisconsin, but it doesn't appear that he he cares. Governing is evidently not part of his career path to higher offices.
