It is ON in Oman now...!
A congregation of over 2,000 people offered Friday prayers at the Globe Roundabout, where a much bigger tent was pitched to accommodate more people. "It was much more organised gathering and peaceful," an eyewitness told Gulf News from Sohar.

He added that roads, however, continued to be blocked, cutting off access to the roundabout or through it for vehicular traffic.

For a few hours on Friday afternoon, people of Sohar experienced difficult mobile phone and data connection but by evening 4pm it was back to normal.

The protesters also continued their sit-in outside the Shura office in Muscat as speakers took turn to air their views through a megaphone while volunteers marshalled the traffic throughout Thursday evening and Friday afternoon.

The protests in Salalah saw the number swell to over 8,000 as people offered Friday prayers at the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar's Office parking area, which is now popularly called 'Freedom Square'... http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/oman/peaceful-protests-in-oman-gather-steam-as-more-join-1.771606

5. UAE is a unique case... more than 80% of the population here is expat!
Edited on Fri Mar-04-11 08:05 PM by JCMach1
Expats are here to work, not revolt...

The local population is spoiled beyond belief... UAE will be the last place along with Qatar. It would be like having a revolution in Palm Beach (ummm not likely).

That said, there are protests planned for 3/25... here is the Facebook link...

As for exit plans... the good news is I am less than a mile from an airport... would take the first flight out in a pinch. However, not much danger unless University City becomes the next Tahrir Square in which case I will join my students.

or maybe the clock tower roundabout...

7. Might seem small, but Oman is tiny... not even close to Madison, much less Cairo.
