Peaceful sustained response.
We can keep it up and their panicky act today shows they don't know how to effectively counter it.

Yes we do! All we have to do is be united about what we want and then use it!
Beautiful, suffragette. I can understand why at the time, it made people cry.
That was a devastating shock, when we lost that fight.
I discovered DU that night as we watched the votes being counted on another board.
I was going back and forth between here and there and watching CNN and talking on the phone to online friends.
I thought we won. Some of my friends were so certain they went out to have a drink and relax and celebrate.
And then I noticed that things were changing on TV. And the rest is history.
Can't remember ever feeling such despair and anger about anything.
I was so afraid of what Bush would do with his newfound 'political capital'.
And those fears came true. Fallujah, Abu Ghraib and so many more horrific crimes.
I guess what we were feeling that night was a sense of impending evil and doom.
Thanks for posting this. Wish I had seen it back then too.

8. Have to admit I cried again re-watching it tonight |

I discovered DU a week or two after the election.
I remember that jolting switch of the vote tallies and my shock at it.
I started searching for some way to understand what happened, found other sites, then DU.
I lurked for about a month, then finally joined, posted responses, then this.
And you're right, those fears sadly came true.
And we fought back, yet here we are.
Still, we haven't given up and won't and this film is a good reminder of why and of all the strong people upon whose shoulders we stand and that we can and must keep going.
As they say: Time to punch the clock.
Though it took us awhile to find each other, I'm glad we did.

I was thinking how at that time, I could not even talk to my Republican family members who had voted for Bush. Many other people I know ended many relationships with friends and family members who did the same thing.
But things have changed and I take it as a good sign. Those same family members and I can now talk about politics, which was literally impossible back then.
Decent Republicans and Conservatives now see how they were used. Wedge issues do not divide people anymore, it is the issues that concern everyone, jobs, the takeover of both parties by Corps etc that people who are intelligent are now focused on. Even Republicans do not want SS benefits cut, or medicare destroyed.
We were kept distracted by the issues that divide but people's very survival now has changed that.
It gives me some hope that most Americans can unite around important issues that affect their everyday lives and forget their differences for a while.
My Republican friens and family members DO acknowledge now, the horrific war crimes, and the fact that those wars were not necessary and they do want them to end, and to see anyone who tortures or murders brought to justice.
IF more of this happens, and they cannot divide people with their wedge issues anymore, then we will be able to beat them.
It takes time, and we are impatient for justice, but I do think it is beginning to happen :-)
