The Good Fight
Today's events in Wisconsin are ugly. People there, and their supporters across the country, are outraged by the under-handed, unethical, and apparently illegal, tactics of the republicans.

I'd like to remind forum members of one important truth: in a fight, a seriously wounded opponent is always both desperate and dangerous. This was something I learned as a young man, when in a boxing ring. It has been reinforced in reading about the struggles of Gandhi and King.

This fight isn't over. It's not even close to over. It's just going into another round, another phase of the struggle.

The enemy is desperate. I believe, as others have noted on this forum, that the republicans are hoping to spark an out-of-control reaction to this vote. That isn't going to happen. In conflict, never react. Always respond.

Another thread provides information on how to donate to support the recount effort. That's an essential response.

It may be that people will need to travel to Wisconsin. I have been thinking of the Crosby, Stills & Nash song, “Chicago,” with a slight change in lyrics:

“In a land that's known as freedom
How can such a thing be fair?
Won't you please come to Wisconsin
for the help that we can bring.

We can change the world
Re-arrange the world
It's dying …. to get better.”

Keep on fighting the Good Fight!

7. Now, there is
an interesting question!

I went to a government meeting in one town last night, as I had the night before. I was scheduled to go to another tonight, but was asked by my Clan Mother to attend a different one, due to expected tensions.

I will be speaking with the authority of this man:

Our words for him are "Gauyesa Toyentha." That translates to "Water Awareness Messenger." I am not of that level/station. I'm his "side-kick." But I will be traveling with one ancient string of wampum.

9. When I was training
my younger son for the Golden Gloves, we discussed the risks of an opponent purposely fouling. I had guys do such things as thumb me in the eye, and countless "low blows." This never happened if they were doing well. Only when they were in serious danger of being knocked out.

I think it's the same thing in Wisconsin.
