Sen. Randy Hopper's Wife Tells Protesters Hopper Is Living with 25-year-old mistress in Madison
Update III: "Citing recent threats during the budget repair bill battle, Republican Senator Randy Hopper says he will not participate in Saturday's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Fond du Lac," reports WBAY TV. "In a written statement, Senator Hopper said, 'I had looked forward to walking the parade route and sharing this celebration with my family, friends, neighbors, and constituents, but I, in no way, want to put the citizens of Fond du Lac in harm's way.'"

What a nice man.

Update II: Blogging Blue reports the woman in question is a former state Senate committee staffer and lobbyist.

Update: Two sources in Fond du Lac close to the recall effort say the Hopper maid has signed the legal-sized recall sheet. The maid reportedly said it's likely Hopper's soon-to-be-ex wife will also sign the recall petition.
Randy Hopper filed for divorce from his wife in August 2010, and it’s being reported his soon to be ex-wife will be signing a recall petition.

Does Randy Hopper even meet the Residency Requirements to Represent his District Anymore?
Well, here's a funky development on the Randy Hopper recall front:

***** Protesters outside the Hopper house this week in Fond du Lac were met by his wife who reportedly came out and told them: Hopper no longer lives there, but with his 25-year-old mistress in Madison.

If he no longer has a residence in Fond du Lac, but instead is keeping a love nest in Madison, Hopper might not meet the legal residency requirements for serving his Senate District.

Infidelity aside, this is a legal issue that voters might want to get straightened out.

42. He is SO vulnerable to recall; only won election by 0.2% (163 vote margin)
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/03/12/955599/-WI-Recall:-Hoppers-vulnerability-leaps

"Hopper has always been considered vulnerable, from the very beginning of this fight. According to data compiled by Swing State Project, he won reelection in 2008 by the scantest of margins (0.2%, or 163 votes out of more than 83,000 cast) in a district that broke by 4 points for Obama. His vote totals look even weaker when you consider that his Republican predecessor had run unopposed in SD 18 in 2004 and won with over 98% of the vote, and that the district had flipped from a +15R in Bush's reelection in 2004 to a +4D for Obama in 2008 (SSP again)."

*****************************

And he filed for divorce the summer BEFORE the election. His mistress is a Marquette alumni? The school must be so proud. Check out another Marquette journalism alumni - from my era. John Fedders, the featured wife beater in the true life, made for TV movie, Shattered Dreams. He was the chief legal enforcer for the SEC before his wife finally became convinced her choices were to divorce him or get beaten to death.

I still get all this Marquette alumni junk mail - and calls for donations. I always politely decline. Next call I will mention Ms. Cass.

50. Are you saying he was not a resident of his district a year vefore the election?
If he moved out of his home when he filed for divorce and went to live with the girlfriend, didn't he commit fraud?

51. Don't know. Both parties can continue to share the family home
after one files for divorce - no law against it. If it's an amicable divorce, which this does not appear to be. Someone posted this was a multi-year affair - so most likely he was shacked up in Milwaukee and or sleeping on the sofa in his district office.

His home page makes no mention of his children, which is most unusual.

10. Are you sure about that?
-the “other woman” is Valerie Cass, who as of this morning was a lobbyist for Persuasion Partners, Inc., a right-wing lobbying firm. According to her bio on Persuasion Partners’ website (which has since been removed from their site), prior to going to work for Persuasion Partners, Cass staffed the Senate Economic Development Committee, of which Sen. Randy Hopper happened to be a member. I attempted to contact Valerie Cass to get any comment on the veracity of claims she’s in a relationship with Randy Hopper, but my email went unanswered, and as I mentioned above, any mention of Valerie Cass has been removed from the Persuasion Partners website this morning.

However, here’s a screenshot of Cass’ bio, as it appeared this morning on the Persuasion Partners website.

No problem Randy, we all know you were driven into this mess by all your hard work, dedication, patriotism, blah-blah. I sure hope your estranged wife didn't pass out detailed maps for the protestors to locate your new happy home. You don't need any further distractions from "offical business". At least we can count on you to "defend marriage" if another round of gay-bashing is ever in order.

40. But you're not considering the issue os standards.
hopper is shacking up with a near-teem mistress, but he is helping destroy unions. So he will get a pass from the republican purity party.

Now if one of the brave Democrats who camped out trying to avoid this attack on American liberty had so much as paused by a news stand that sold Playboy, that senator would be pilloried and scourged.

republicans are nothing if not hypocritical.
