Hey Alex Witt-less! Shape up! |
|
For those of you NOT watching MSNBCLOCKUP, here's the AM report:
Old Alex has this fellow on who's an expert in rescue and recovery. He explains in perfect logical manner exactly why this rescue effort may be abbreviated and the recovery aspect will, unfortunately, be more prominent and sooner than it was in Christchurch and Haiti due to the Tsunami.
Oh no...we can't have THIS! THIS would be bad for ratings - much better to see helos pulling up survivors by the dozen. Alex says: but but but there are instances of people being found days or weeks later!!!! The gentleman says, sure, a rescue or a few rescues give everyone hope, but that that is not realistic in this particular case and that it is up to the Government of Japan to ready people for the bad news that many thousands are just simply gone. Alex still wasn't buying it...
I half-expected her to start discussing the positive aspects of prayer and how it could save thousands, but she mercifully didn't try that THIS TIME, although she has been known to erupt in the past, like Vesuvius.

1. The media coverage has been downright awful |
|
And the media completely ignored yesterday's crowd in Wisconsin.
It's just disgusting.

5. You know that back in the day, Walter Cronkite would have been |

all over this disaster and there would be real coverage 24/7 with all other programming put on hold. God I miss the days when we had real news given the importance it deserved.

7. Not Ready For Prime Time Tragedy... |
|
Damn those Japanese for having a catastrophe on a Friday afternoon. Be damned if ComCrapNBC would be bothered to break in with their "precious" prison shows to cover something that isn't all about the U.S. (even though what little coverage is). Forget paying the "A" teams overtime (dare they miss their drinkie-drinkie parties) and doing more than cursory coverage. Imagine if JFK had been assasinated in today's media world we would have had to sit through lock-up: whocares while the corporates angst over having to pay so much overtime.
While there's more "news" channels on the teevee than ever, the real quality coverage is a shell of what it was a generation or two ago. Easier to bring in "experts" than to have boots on the ground...better to spin and conjecture than to have real facts. Once again the best reports are from those who are "plain people"...the internet has trumped broadcast in one of the greatest natural and man-made disasters of all time.
