March 13, 2011

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – California is closely monitoring efforts to contain leaks from a quake-damaged Japanese nuclear plant, a spokesman said Saturday, as experts said radiation could be blown out across the Pacific.

While officials downplayed any immediate danger, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission deployed two experts to Japan, where the Fukushima plant, which was rocked by a large explosion earlier in the day in the aftermath of Japan's strongest-ever earthquake.

2. Wind currents blow west to east, so yes..
No one knows how much or how high of concentrations. They can estimate it, but ANY extra is too much.

The cancers that result will be years later and all muddled with the other "causes" we have been exposed to in the interim.. no blame will ever really be assessed..

3. Once a body is irradiated
it remains so for many thousands of years.

Radiation does not go away.

It is also cumulative, so all the radiation one receives stays with them.

Nice, huh?

4. More than radiation poisoning of people. Crops and livestock and poultry can be irradiated.
California FEEDS the rest of this country.

9. Irradiated crops and food sources are not dangerous. CONTAMINATED
crops and food sources are.

And contamination of soils is the real long term danger from fallout.

5. Hmm yes... wind currents
time \ distance... so best case it will be so minor not to worry (much)

Worst case... I really do not want to think about it... we have officially entered nightmare scenario

10. Often each day I think, anymore, we're all on the wrong side of a slippery slope, sliding
downhill. If one thinks about all of the permutations and combinations of things going on anymore, political, social, physical, the sh**'s about ready to hit the fan one day soon. I think that, anyway, and for most of my life I've been an eternal optimist. But damn, anymore, that means ones got their head stuck in the sand.

Maybe when it all becomes unglued, it will fit back together better.
