Let me correct this... the suit is a L-2 since it is not enclosed, but it can be taken up with some duct tape, a respirator and all that

This is what I mean by L-1

6. No need for a suit like that when dealing with radiation.
The suit can't stop radiation so it will do nothing to prevent exposure.
Those types of suits are useful in chemical or biological threat where exposure through the skin is possible.

A high quality respirator (or even better self contained breathing gear) will prevent inhalation of contaminated material. Nothing else really helps in nuclear incident.
