This Is the Scariest First-Person Video of the Japan Tsunami Yet

This Is the Scariest First-Person Video of the Japan Tsunami Yet This first-person view is the most terrifying and astonishing video I've seen of the Japan tsunami. Initially everything seems ok, just a mild wave coming towards the camera. But keep watching.

By the end of it, the raging water is taking entire buildings off the streets of Kesennuma, in the Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. This is the exact point where this video was taken, before the catastrophe.

2. Very fortunate that there was some high ground that was not swept away.
Frightening. Japan is such a small country where most of it is coastal and subject to this kind of disaster.

6. EEEK!
In its way, much more chilling than the 2004 videos that showed the waves breaking on the shoreline and then coming in.

This one starts with just a little trickle in the gutter. Not 2 minutes later, catastrophe.

9. Jaw dropping video...

... I assume the voice on the loudspeaker was saying "Run for your life!".
Just imagine being there and seeing your town get destroyed. I bet they were wondering
if they were on high enough ground.

I paused the video to make the above post. It was bad enough watching cars, trucks and a boat float by, but at the
end an entire house goes past too. Incredible.

10. I was wondering what the hill there is.
In the video it almost seems to be an island, like it was built as an escape.

11. Lots of hills in Japan
I remember from the few years that I spent in Japan, lots of hills all over the place. Which is very fortunate, otherwise the death toll might have been much higher.

12. i have slow connection so video still loading is this really only about 4 or 5 min
the people seem pretty calm during all this. not sure I would be that calm

before water gets that high one shot is inside of the building and things are floating around inside building also. boat goes by upside down just bottom of boat and the propeller out.

when swimming its hard to move water and it doesn't move very far. This water travelled quite a few miles before it got to this town. It also came all the way across the pacific and destroyed dock in Cal. I wonder if it came as quick on this side of the ocean.

15. 4 min in and water is to the second floor
you almost had to be in the right spot. what if you were daydreaming and didn't pick up on the warning signs. I guess you would be swimming. If takes a 2 story house down human would be like an ant.

Google news had a picture of 60 yr old man that was found 2 miles out at sea floating on the roof of his house.
