US Energy Secretary "Don't Worry - We Got This!"
#
1425: Several countries who, like Japan, depend on nuclear power for much of their energy have insisted their facilities are safe. US Energy Secretary Steven Chu has said the US will learn from the disaster, but that plants in the country have "rigorous" safety rules.
#
1445: More from US Energy Secretary Stephen Chu. He told lawmakers that Americans "should have full confidence that the United States has rigorous safety" rules and that nuclear plant builders "clearly consider things like tsunamis ... and earthquakes". He added: "Whenever there's an incident such as what's happening in Japan, we have to pay very close attention to that, think very hard."

2. Monkey business as usual...
Everyone in the US knows the drill by now. Corporations want to make billions. Our politicians
come to their rescue, by downplaying damages and danger.

All I needed to see and hear is Mitch McConnell--corrupt bastard that he is--defending and
minimizing, only to discover that he's been given handsome sums of money from companies
that profit from nuclear power.

Our entire country is based on this sick system. Who even listens to the politicians
anymore when corporate interests are part of the equation. Our politicians will ALWAYS
side with their corporate masters--even if it means we die.

5. He also forgot to mention that GE built reactor #1 @ Fukushima!!!
The Japanese then used it as a template to build 2 thru 6.

Do they forget there is an international press?

6. Hey! They have never lied to us before.
Well, except that little war thing
And the Katrina thing.
And the oil spill thing.
And the death panel thing.
And, oh shit I could do this all day.
