Went to the Nashville AFL-CIO rally today.............. |
|
GREAT turnout for a Tuesday afternoon. I'm not an expert at judging crowds, but this IS the 4th one of these things I've been to in the last month and my guesses have been pretty accurate so far. So my guess for today, on a Tuesday in this deep red state is.... (drum roll) 1500+. There might have been close to 2k, but to be on the safe side.. 1500+. Now let's see what the local media says. :) They were all out BTW. The local media.
At the end of the rally about 300+ decided to go across the street to see if we could get in to see Gov. Haslem (R). At first they wouldn't let us in, so we stayed outside chanting for a good half an hour. BTW, thanks Wisconsin for the chants. By far the most popular and most enthusiastic was "LET US IN. THIS IS OUR HOUSE!" They finally did let us in, but Haslem didn't show so we went home at that time.
Next time we're going to hit the state Legislature. :)
Also, I saw a total of 5 (five) teabaggers. Once again, even in this deep red state, TOTALLY outnumbered. This is what democracy looks like!

2. Thanks TNDemo. I MIGHT have some pix......... |

I didn't take them, but one of the folks that was there was someone I've seen at all of the other one and SHE was taking pictures. So I asked her to email me some of them. I'm going to send them on to someone on the TN Dem party web site for her to post them. If I knew how I'd try to post on here, but I don't, so I won't. :)

DU state forum. We need to keep on keeping on.
I saw another post where some folks were arrested for disorderly conduct for a sit down at a Legislative committee meeting. I missed that one. Damn it.

Those TeaBaggers are a bunch of smarmy cowards. Only barely smart enough to stay out of the way...

6. Shameless bump........ |

I want this to stay on the front page for a while. We're trying to do our part here. Some folks are even willing to get arrested. In this red red state, that's an eyeopener.
