Inspired by Holbrooke's last words - let's compromise.
Holbrooke's reported last words, "You've got to stop this war".

I agree.

And I'll compromise. End both wars now - recall ALL US based troops and send them home, and remove it from the budget, transfer the money from the wars to the tax cuts, which is *PAID* for then, and I'll wholeheartedly support the cuts.

1. Please Hawkeye
no sanity allowed. Especially, with politics and common sense. :(

3. ...
 It's bad. I've never felt this uncompfortable in my life.

During the 60's we thought we'd live forever and change the world.

Now, I'm older and there is more sand at the bottom of the hour glass. Nothing has changed. I don't care because I think it will all be over before my time.

But, I still have to stay in the game for the next generation. My kids, and their kids. It never ends...

5. Oh hell yeah,
I'm so tired of talking to people I mix with on a day to day basis.

Fuckers are so clueless. The can't relate current events to the past. They don't know history. Hell, by no stretch am I a historian or even smart but, there is fucking GOOGLE educate yourself. There is NO excuse today for people to be uniformed about the past or the present. Wake the hell up already, ya lazy bastids.

They're blind that the US is one big MF'ing greedy country that is not 'apple pie and Mom'.

6. After Reading Kipling's work in India and Afghanistan
I studied that bloody war the British fought there so many years ago.

That was a wakeup call and then reading the history of Alexander and his misadventures the further he went
east told me a couple of things.

Afghanistan is were empires die....
The other?..... well folks read some history and get back to us.

7. Let's don't compromise.
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 11:44 AM by Jack Sprat
Let's demand that this all be ended now. Our govt has been hijacked. Seriously, I mean it. Slowly over time the investment bankers, oil companies, military industrialists, and insurance giants, have actually taken over the operation of our government. These oligarchs even run the Federal Reserve and spend our Treasury deposits. They own our politicians in Congress. They own the SCOTUS who gave them free reign. There should be widespread demands and demonstrations calling for a suspension of all government (outside of essential services) until the entire 3 branches of government are thoroughly investigated by the FBI.

9. Here's your compromise
We'll agree to stay for another four years, and then we'll re-evaluate. If certain people haven't yet made enough money and there's still something in the Treasury, then we'll go another four years. And we'll limit it to three surges, although we're willing to contemplate going as low as two surges in the next four years, but we get to call you a terrorist-lover.

Naturally, you'll agree, because this is the best deal you can get. All the Very Serious People will nod and say yes. If you disagree, you must be forever known as Not Serious.
